Was happy with T-Lo first game thought he added something to the forward line and can take a contested mark was really unlucky i think in the third quarter not to get a free when he almost got the mark and then had about 3 Port knees in the back

But well done T-Lo good first game effort

Thought he did really well first up. Would love to see him and fish operating on opposing flanks, while Betts and Davies sit in the pockets, with Fev at FF and Red at CHF - killer forward line!!

T-Lo seems to have the 'defenders can do what they like to me and those bastard umpires still won't give me a free kick' syndrome.

Or is that just a side-effect of wearing navy blue?

How often was the bench used?

T Lo did well.

Chambers and Betts where were they?

Actually you are right would be great with Fish and T-Lo in tandem

would be impressive with Fev and Whitnall and Deluca rotating
and Betts Davies in the mix something to look forward to in the futrue when we get Livo and Thorton down back

Were you asleep in the second half SHHH?

Or did you miss those crucial 2 goals Chambers kicked?

Well done T-Lo.

Thought he did a great job, and took some ripping contested marks. With Whitnall in the backline, I think T-Lo proved to be an adequate replacement. Could have kicked about 4 goals but was still a great first up effort in the navy blue. Wear it with pride son.

Chambers was great in the second half.
Betts i didnt see much.
T Lo.. was great.. he created opportunities for himself and has sticky fingers.
Davies will be struggling in a week or two .

T-Lo putting his hand up and being counted may see the end of Davies for the year and POSSIBLY at Carlton.

The bits I did catch of last nights game was the first 5-10 of the first quarter.

Absolutely loved Callum one out in square and outmuscling the Port defender for the mark.

He has brutal strength, does Callum.

Nah not the end of Davies. At the end of the last quarter he showed us his value with that pack mark and a couple long kicks.

I reckon Pagan trusts Davies and i can't see him going unless we get a good offer for him, definitley won't be delisted.

Surprised Betts didn't see more game time - and that Walker spent most if not all second quarter on the pine after a busy first quarter; and Longmuir - correct me if I'm wrong - spent a lot of time on the bench in the last term after bing dangerous, if wasteful, all game.

Davo has the goods, but doesn't know how to package them.

For mine, he's still too skinny

Longmuir is more of a small-marking option. Davies marking is strong, but he's a fall-of-the-ball option.

Longmuir/Davies are Peter Wilson/Brett Heady. Both have a place. Betts too. The problem is striking a balance with Fev and Whitnall, plus messers Fisher, Waite, DeLuca, Betts et.al.

Its a balance thing. Davo has to get bigger and stronger though. His problem will be that competition is fierce, and he might not have the strength or rag to win.

Thanks for that Peter Wilson reference. I'll hate Longmuir forever now.

I thought Longmuir was ok but his kicking for goal was just average and i would be preferring Brad Fisher as my 3rd marking option when fit.

Longmuir will be a handy fill in but isnt built up enough for me and lacks physical strength..I see him more as bait to get his bro over here than being a regular when we have a full list...I rate his bro very highly....

Just on Betts. Denis was specifically asked this question in the after match press conference and his answer was that Eddie spent time on the bench because "He wasn't getting the ball".

Wonder if he's still suffering some ill effects from the hammie niggle from last week?

I just don't think there's enough room on AFL Lists for that sort of stuff - its great that someone somewhere may think brothers are worth it, but mine aren't. Longmuir is here because Pagan thinks he's the small marking forward option that we need - someone to hold the fort when fev and whitnall are up the ground. With Lappin needed up the ground, i think Pagan saw Longmuir going cheap and nabbed him.

A couple of Pagan's moves had me puzzled during the game..

Why was T-Lo off the ground during the game? IMO he was proving a real headache for the opposition with his marking -not so much his kicking- and provided a decent alternative option with Lance down back. Why would Denis bench him?

Ditto Walker. He seemed to be generating a lot of zip and forward momentum in the contests for us. Why would he be benched for the majority of the 2nd term? (IIRC)

And the Eddie Betts one is puzzling. Surely he needs game time to 'get the footy'.

I think that Pagan is certainly a good coach, but i'm a bit puzzled by his moves sometimes.
