Bravest Little Battler

Quote:
NINE year-old Mariah Morrison wants to live to see her beloved Carlton Football Club win a premiership.

But that may be a pipedream -- the Blues are at rock bottom and the little battler from Doreen is under siege from a rare cancer that is attacking three parts of her body.
The beautiful little ginger ringlets are gone after six months of chemotherapy.

What an inspiring story.

Beautiful little girl as well. Very sad. Amazing how sick kids like that seem to have a lot more maturity and gratitude than most healthy adults.

I with her all the best. Let's hope our boys can win a few and put a smile on her face.

Laughter is after all, the best medicine.

Thanks for sharing that with us TBB.

Brave little girl our 'Mimi'.

Gee we have some inspirational supporters. I love these stories and appreciate the efforts of our boys behind the scenes helping to lift the spirits of those less fortunate than ourselves.

GO MIMI, GO BLUES!

Horrible thing for a kid to have to go through. It always amazes me how kids and young adults who have to go through such difficult and traumatic experiences manage to not get bitter about life and on the contrary, end up with such a positive and amazing outlook on life.

Thoughts and love with Mimi and her family - fingers crossed for some good news for her. Lets hope she can see that premiership!

Jesus Christ.

Kids drawing the short straw and getting dumped with the big C is the single biggest injustice facing mankind.

It's just not right.

Thats a sad story and makes you wonder why life can be so cruel for little Mimi..she has amazing courage and a great smile ....all the best to her and if there is any justice in life she will get back to full health and see the Blues give her some premiership pleasure...

Have been thinking about this since I read it. Was wondering - would be nice if we as a Carlton supporters community could do something nice for her.

Maybe through personal contacts and fundraising efforts - we could send her up to the Gold Coast to watch us play the Kangaroos or something similar. Maybe get her access to the theme parks up there?

I think thats a great idea. I would definitely be willing to donate some money. Would we coordinate this from here? Given her treatment she might not be able to travel. Maybe we could organise something at the club for her.

Would also be great if the club organized a visit from one or two of her fav players when they are on Gold coast for a game.

That makes your blood run cold.
Kids are pretty brave in those situations.

If there is anything we can do, or the club cn do to help make her feel better it would be great . Makes you feel so helpless.

I think it would probably be easiest to organise through the club but with significant input from TC members. Perhaps the ideas, fundraising can be organised by us and then the details sorted out by the club.

Obviously we will need the club to be in contact with the family to determine whether or not she is able to travel. Also, if she is able to travel, would be great for her to go into the rooms before the match and meet a few of her favourite players as was mentioned.

I'll draft a letter to tthe club this afternoon regarding this situation. If anyone wants some input on what should be in the letter or how we can help, PM me and I'll add it on.

Gold Coast?

Does she live on the Gold Coast or is it Doreen in Melbourne?

If you want to do something, we actually can.
TC is Paul Bowers player Partner which entitles TC to an appearance from their player for 06.
I also am a player sponsor which would enable us to get 2 players to visit her at home.
We could chip in perhaps and purchase Mimi something as well from the Carlton supporting community.

Thoughts?

Cracking idea.

I'd love to chip in a couple of bob to get it done.

We're currently orgaising a second sponsorship here on TC so we'll have 2 players to send. If you'd like to send your player appearance to make it 3 all the better BV.

The article does mention that Kouta has been to visit Mimi so the club has been involved already. Thats not to say we can't do more (both supporters and the club) but some have suggested the club do something...it has already started.
