Just in from The Age:

Interesting that Pagan says a captain won't be appointed until after the NAB Cup.

Obvious it's Lance then if he's not playing in the pre-season.

wind back the clock to just before the pre-season and i'm sure this was said then........"Pagan said that the Blues would be bigger, faster and stronger in 2007 and that he expects his players will be less likely to be 'outmatched by bigger, stronger sides"

bigger, faster and stronger was the key to finishing last in 2006 - how about game plan, team unity, match day tactics Denis?????

He was also going on about a more attacking game plan.

I think it is a worry when Pagan said that Ratts made a good point about Lance Whitnall.

"We don't know how many games Lance has left, so why waste them on the pre season".

So he is what 27, perspective captain, and we are not sure how many games (i assume his body) has left.............

I think it's a worry that Pagan thought Ratten made a good point about resting older/injured players.

Given his history of injury, his weight issues and the fact that he's a KPP who's been playing as one in the seniors since he was 18 I think it's a fairly good call.

It's a worry because it didn't occur to Pagan or its a worry that we're resting older players?

So who will be captain in the NAB Cup? Sounds like lance is unlikely to play & ? not likely to be a long term captain if appointed.

Nice to see they want the players to have less say on who is in the leadership group!

I think it would be a safe assumption that Lance will not be captain as you would expect your Captain to be involved in the pre season comps to build some momentum in the role. I would say Stevens is a warm favourite.

I'd be more shocked if Denis made a good point.

I think Stevo should be captain but I see the delay in the announcement as waiting for the captain to be ready to take the field. Lance will be captain, the only question is whether he will share it.

Pagan said that we played with "a lot more gusto and gay abandon" towards the end of last year...

Nothing like a modern perspective.
