Post subject:  WOLFISTER'S WEEKLY ONE CENT STATS - Round 4

Welcome to episode 53 of Wolfister's Weekly one cent stats. Well we saw the effect that last week's positive set of stats had on our performance, so lets all hope that the reverse will be true this week... cos, well, the gang here at the big blue office at the bottom end of town haven't got the most promising collection of data for you this week.

This will be the 13th time Carlton and Port have met - with Carlton winning only 3 of these clashes (25%) at PM-211. As "Footy Geek" discussed earlier in the week, this makes Port Adelaide the only side to have won more games against Carlton than they have lost. They have won their last 5 in a row against us at PM-219 (which is an average of 43.8 points...), and also 3 of the last 10 at PM-84. 8 of our 12 Port Adelaide encounters have been at Football Park, where we have won only twice (25%) at PM-174.

As far as Round 4 goes... well the story doesn't get much better. Round 4 is only our 17th most successful round, winning 63 of our 108 starts (58.3%) at PM+1200. On the whole this isn't too bad, but in recent years, we've lost our last 5 Round 4s in a row at PM-168 - which is an average of 5 1/2 goals. This is our longest Round 4 losing streak of all time - our last win coming way back last century against Fremantle at home in 1999. We have, however, won 4 or our last 10 at PM-40. We've met Port Adelaide twice before in Round 4 - back to back in 02 and 03. We lost both of these at PM-83.

The stats for April 16 are a little better, winning 6 of our 8 April 16 starts (75%) at PM+305. The last April 16 match was all the way back in 2004... where we went down to the Bombers by 37 points. In fact, all April 16 matches (except for the 9 point win over Melbourne in 1983) have been decided by large margins - with an average winning margin of over 10 goals.

Till next week, remember that 79% of all statistics are under consideration to be the next Pope.

Wolf Out.
