Woolworths own Dan Murphys. So no real surprise that the guys were involved. Good publicity, though. Good thing they got a real photographer along for those shots....

Nice work lads.............Woolies raised $4.7 Mil for the day , way above expectations. Might be a bit harder hanging on to the Dan Murphy's sponsorship now that Brucy has 'retired'. The Woolies CEO Mike Luscombe is an AFL fan but AFAICR he is a Hawks supporter. However this effort would go down really well with Mike.

There's a really interesting story behind the Woolies drought day that I am unable to reveal. Let's just say that the planning behind wasn't smooth sailing, not by a long shot
My Mrs works with Michael, not sure who he follows but - I'll scope it out. |

Just remember that when you consider where you choose to shop...because the customer is also party to that screw up. Best we keep the murky stuff out of this thread, and take it to 'talking stuff' thread and discuss Corporate practises in Australia. On this one, I'm glad it came off, and that we showed our good will to Woollies, in partnership, in the name of the farmers. Carlton and Woolworths partners. I like it. May they embrace Carlton with some serious sponsorship dollars. I wouldn't mind if Carlton could score $4.7M from a day's profits as sponsorship ...say every couple of months. Ching Ching. ...that's a total of $9.4M extra for carlton in 2007! What did they say the club's debt was? $8M? $9M including 2007's projected financial loss....and then some. Bingo. |

Apparently Fev was the only downside to the day, getting arrested for nicking 2 packets of iced vovo's and 3 sachets of Kan Tong. He truly is the antichrist AND he washed his car in the car park, thus just rubbing drought stricken farmers' noses in it. |

I never purchase items like Farmland (Coles) or Woolies branded milk, because of the way they are known to treat their suppliers. And that disagreement is on public record. But, I agree, enough of that negativity here. It's all about positive. Good work by the boys, and the club! |
