The Carlton family mourns the passing of another champion, another inspiration.

RIP Ern Henfry.

Condolences to all concerned and a legend of the club.

Telling point in his obituary is the point that an influential member of the Club arranged his job transfer from Perth to Melbourne.

We need a few influential members these days.

Gotta love the guy, he moves over from WA, captains the blues to a premiership and then captains Vic against WA, amazing.

If only we had that sort of talent on the park today. Looks like he would be a bit of fun too.

CFC put a death notice for Ern Henfry in the Hun today, Sat 27th Jan, 2 weeks after he passed away. Indicative of our club??

Not necessarily. A preliminary death notice has to be put in by the immediate family before they'll publish any others. There may have been a delay due to what the family were doing.

Not everything is an indication of the state of our club.

Not so, a death notice can be put in by anyone as soon as a death certificate is issued, regardless of what the family are doing. Not wanting to split hairs, but I reckon it's ordinary by CFC.

Au contraire, my friend, Deano is absolutely correct.

Death Certificates can take weeks to be issued.

Newspaper policy is that they will not publish a notice in the paper till the family have published their notice first, it is a matter of courtesy, etiquette, protocal and simple decency.

I'm not sticking up for CFC in this instance - but they may well have had their notice delayed until the family had published theres - or they simply may have not been on the ball.

I'm hoping for the former but I am suspecting the latter.
