Very interesting interview last night on 5AA radio with Cory and the boys from 5AA on their sports tonight program.
The majority of the interview was spent discussing Carlton issues.

The following was discussed in the interview:
• Will be playing with souths in the SANFL next season with Prenda
• Extremely shattered that was delisted by the blues. Didn’t see it coming, pagan just approached him and said he would be cut due to the youth policy
• Said that most people at Carlton couldn’t believe that he was delisted
• Said that Denis Pagan had no idea as a coach for the modern game. Often asked team members what tactics we should employ or come up with. He said the senior blokes kept shaking their heads that he had no idea on how to coach in the modern game. (Chris McDermott couldn’t believe it)
• Couldn’t believe the disunity between Mitchell and Pagan.
• New senior development coach should be employed as soon as possible
• Denis Pagan used fear tactics on the young players.
• The board has been there for 5 years and have contributed nothing and should be removed as soon as possible
• Certain blokes got away with anything. Referring to Brendon Fevola and his relationship with Pagan.
• Pagan would often ignore points or opinions made by the leadership group without ever explaining.

Would be great if there was a transcript of the interview on the 5AA website. Well worth the listed

Wow Rhys, good spot. I was pretty disappointed to hear Cory had gone. Not a great player but really honest and a great example. Pretty damning comments, although it is hard to know what part of it is bitterness and what part is considered opinion. Personally I might take his committee comments with a grain of salt. The fact that the players actually got paid is a bit of a miracle given the financial position we are in. But given that players usually have nothing to say re committees then it indicates that the committee problems may have spilled over to the playing group. Disturbing to hear re Pagan. Particulalry fear factor with young players, inability to listen and the fact that players perceive favoured treatment for Fev. I am still dirty that Karl Norman wasn't given another year to try and realise his great talent (particulalry when Pagan was set on a knucklehead like Zantuck). The retention of Mitch and the changes to the coaching panel are a big message to Pagan. The club can't afford a mill to sack him, but he clearly is being given a message. I thought he would be smart enough to realise he has to change or perish. If all this is true e may improve a little, get a few high picks and then have enough dough to move him on at the end of the year (but not to be replaced by Mitch - if he goes, let's hope we actually interview for a coach for the first time ever)

Thanks Rhys.
I'd be amazed if anyone would be surprised by those comments.
In my opinion, most of those points have been obvious for a while.

After playing 19 games you'd think you were pretty safe. Pretty poor people management by Pagan.

By the sounds of the training reports Denis doesn't seem to be doing much coaching anyway.

Correct me here, but isn't he one of those players who couldn't hold a place in the worst team in the competition??

What's that?? Fev got away with murder, Cory says?? Is that the same Fev who also kicked more goals that anybody else this season?? Good one, Cory, Fev sounds like a dud who should be playing in the SANFL - oh, wait...that spot has already been taken...

Yes...Always great to hear a player bagging a club that has handed him more financial opportunity than he could ever have dreamed of for somebody his age...and given him a second chance to play at AFL level...

He has every right to complain...

interesting to read

in 95 parkin handed control to the players and it was regarded a success.

interesting that it is made out everyone hates pagan and he is useless but there have been very few players voluntery leave the club

there needs to be open dialogue between players and coachs in particular to playing style/tactics as coach runs the show but the players need to execute the coaches plans

considering 1/2 our players struggle to hit a target 20 meters away its no suprise the coach doesn't listen to their thoughts

mcgrath being delsited due to youth policy is due more to the boards decision to run with such a strict policy rather than pagan's management

2 key poins from this development and disunity. 2 key area's we are lagging behind in compared to the other clubs.

McDermott's best mate is on the board and in the footy department - you'd think he'd have an inkling?

Yes, 19 memorable games that cemented his future...Come on BW, he was never a key player for the team or our future...

The club has to turn players over to build something better than what we currently have, or else we just bounce along the bottom forever.

These guys are paid well for the experience.

I'm sure Cory will be welcome for a drink at the table of bitterness with Beaumont, Manton and Campo etc. Shame he feels the need to rant on radio (in a different state) to come to terms with it...

I'm sure if there was one, they'd all be delighted.

Considering it is the football departments job to develop and remediate those skills, I'm surprised they talk to him.

Interesting. He has a right to complain to an extent, he was probably a bit hard done by, especially after playing 19 games last year, and playing at Essendon* where he was crucified by Sheedy and given no opportunities, similar to the way Ted Richards was treated at Essendon*.

Yes, he was probably never going to be in a premiership side, but I thought that he was serviceable enough to be in the team for the next couple of years.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when he was delisted no other club wanted to touch him. So why should Carlton carry him over Joe Anderson for example?

Cory was stiff to get the chop but I wouldn't give back any of our ND draft picks and we had to get a couple of tall(ish) players in the PSD to cover the loss of Barney Bear & Archie.

One hell of a spray though ...10/10

He was screwed over and the whole of the football fraternity knows it.
Not the greatest player going around, but by no means one of the worst either.
He actually put in every time he went out there and didn't shirk an issue once. Pity the same can't be said of some of his more fancied former team-mates. Every right to be bitter.
