Post subject:  Carlton Trading Cards ('72, '73, '83 & '86)

Hi all,

I've recently being reliving my childhood and started collecting football trading cards (Scanlens etc). I'm only predominately collecting Carlton team sets but am missing the sets for 1972, 1973, 1983 & 1986.

Is there anyone out there that can help me? I'd prefer the cards to be in Very Good or Excellent condition and am willing to pay a fair price for them.

I've been to 2 Sports Memorabilia stores, but I thought before I travel all over Melbourne I'd utilise this site.

Anyway - please PM me if you are able to help.

Thanks,
Monty.

Monty - there is an excellent link to a Trading Card site in the 'Directory' section of the Blueseum, under Memorabilia. The site is run by a guy named Damien who is an avid collector - perhaps he can direct you to the right places,

Try ebay - there's always heaps of stuff on there, but it can get a little pricey.

I've got some doubles at home that I haven't organised to sell yet - I'll investigate and see if there's any from the years you're looking for.

I could be wrong here but I thought that Scanlans did stickers instead of cards in 1983?

Yes that's right buzzaulenko, it was a sticker series with an album to put them in in 83

I had a near complete set but lost it at some stage :(

Monty there's a second hand shop in High St Northcote that has a number of old footy cards - I'll get their details for you if you like.

Yes....I regretfully agreed with my Wife 3 years ago when we packing to move house; that it was time to unload a gazillion Carlton items to a Collector, after The Club said it "wasn't equipped" to take them as a gift.....I got nowhere what they are now asking but....that's showbiz!

It's disappointing the club couldn't accept that wonderful gesture Warbs. Hopefully one day we'll have a real life Blueseum where this sort of thing can be accomodated.
