I'm more impressed with this line:

Quote:
Geelong has emerged as the bulkiest team in the league, with an average weight of 89.4kg. The Blues are the next heaviest at 88.7kg.

It could be impressive mate :) Going on looking at them at training they look good.

Although considering the Cats were complaining last year about how unfit they were it could be a bad thing

Blues always walk tall even when we're short.

I find it hard to believe that we are one of the heaviest teams.

What is this squad going to be like in two years when youngsters put on weight and muscle?

The squad looks skinny to me..

I think you'll find that's mostly just down to height. A tall draftee can weigh as much as a mature midfielder, while still being a long way from a weight that will allow them to compete at AFL level. I think if you did some sort of analysis on say average weights of players at certain heights then we'd be near the back of the pack.

I think you can't read too much into the article as the ability to win the ball, and dispose of it effectively will determine just how good the team really is.

Nonetheless, interesting stat!!!

You need to compare 'body mass index'.

= height/(weight^0.5)

Note: The last half dozen or so GF winners (apart from WCE) have been the oldest and/or most experienced teams.

Looks like we are grooming more guerillas to play down back?? Hope it doesn't take them too long to get an appetite for bananas like Richo, Riewoldt, Hall etc...

Hmm, I wanted find out our average age, so created a list using data available from the Carlton website's Player Profiles section. I got slightly different data to the list published in the Hun...

Might depend on whether or not rookies are included

I saw a few of the younger brigade out on Fitzroy St just before Christmas. I must admit I got a bit of a shock seeing them in civvies - they look much younger and smaller than I was expecting. I guess everyone grows a bit when the Navy Blue jumper is pulled on but I fear they are going to take some physical punishment in 2007. Just as well they are talented.
