I'm more impressed with this line: Quote: Geelong has emerged as the bulkiest team in the league, with an average weight of 89.4kg. The Blues are the next heaviest at 88.7kg.

Blues always walk tall even when we're short. ![]() I find it hard to believe that we are one of the heaviest teams. ![]() What is this squad going to be like in two years when youngsters put on weight and muscle? ![]() The squad looks skinny to me.. |

I think you'll find that's mostly just down to height. A tall draftee can weigh as much as a mature midfielder, while still being a long way from a weight that will allow them to compete at AFL level. I think if you did some sort of analysis on say average weights of players at certain heights then we'd be near the back of the pack. |

I think you can't read too much into the article as the ability to win the ball, and dispose of it effectively will determine just how good the team really is. Nonetheless, interesting stat!!! |

You need to compare 'body mass index'. = height/(weight^0.5) Note: The last half dozen or so GF winners (apart from WCE) have been the oldest and/or most experienced teams. |

I saw a few of the younger brigade out on Fitzroy St just before Christmas. I must admit I got a bit of a shock seeing them in civvies - they look much younger and smaller than I was expecting. I guess everyone grows a bit when the Navy Blue jumper is pulled on but I fear they are going to take some physical punishment in 2007. Just as well they are talented. ![]() |
