I posted the first version of this in early December 2004. I thought that it was time for an update to the stable.
The Denis Pagan Princes Park stables at Carlton, have been for the past few years a little rundown, but have recently built up their team of steeds all raring to get out on the track and prove their worth. The following is an updated form guide of all the charges. I have rated them in order from the least likely to succeed based on their disclosed form as well as their predicted performance for the future.

Clarke: Shows speed, but more suited to weaker company.
Smith: Youngster a couple of grades below this company atm.
Becker: Joined stable with big wraps, but looks out of depth so far.
Batson: Could be the pick of the local youngsters from this crop. Watch.
Bowyer: Tough campaigner., Prefer somewhere easier. Maybe bush events.
Aisake: Juvenile brother in blood to the promising Setanta. Next Season.
Raso: Classy rangy youngster, but needs further schooling.
Pleming: Not shown enough for open company just yet.
Johnson: Dwarfed by bigger colts. A bit wayward. Stable change looming.
Simpson: Pony! Needs time in lower grades, but a promising future.
Bryan: Could be a smoky for his handlers. Best at Jumps.
Wiggins: Takes time to find form due to injuries, but could surprise.
Hartlett: From across the border. Appears to resent the whip. Later maybe.
Longmuir: Fitness a concern to stable watchers. May bob up.
Carrazzo: Showed ability last five runs, but others appeal more.
Blackwell: Sire a real champ for this stable. Although pint sized, classy like Dad.
Sporn: From proven bloodlines. Full Sister won everything. Keep safe.
Deluca: Consistent last campaign, but suffered hoof injury.
Russell: New to stable. Has blistering pace, but still very green.
Setanta: Lanky imported juvenile. Might be best of overseas jumpers.
Livingston: Country star. Due for change of luck after recent setbacks.
Morrell: Trainer gets the best out of this baldy faced bloke.
Bannister: Well developed youngster. Improved since joining stable.
Prendergast: Super fit Performer. Pedigree suited to distance events.
French: Big lumbering type. Improved since last campaign.
Houlihan: Very smooth action, but usually steers clear of tight spots.
Scotland: Getting over shin soreness. Had limited chances, but Heath specialist.
Fisher: Landed heavily from fall. He has been circling course in training.
Norman: Bush prospect returned positive swab, but up to city class.
Chambers: Change of stable, but super quick on firm going in west.
McGrath: 2 siblings in work with other stables. Could be the pick of them.
Davies: After a short spell in bush, did well. Bobs up every now and then.
Bentick: A real Bullocking type. Always gives lots of cheek. Expect improvement.
Whitnall: The big red fella has been in a lush paddock, but stripping fitter now.
Walker: Very good at Caulfield. Championship qualities, though up in grade.
Waite: Glides over the turf. Bred in the purple as Sire was stable star too.
Teague: Flashy mane. Punters favourite. Never gives in.
Fevola: Works best when in front. Can start run from long way back.
Lappin: Undersized and not overly quick, but has heaps of stamina.
Campo: Likes to slip away from opponents, but relishes a bit of niggle.
Stevens: Makes ground on the field and could win everything this year.
Koutoufides: Old Warrior, who has returned from injury. Stable star.
Thornton: Holds most opponents at bay. Will be a champion performer.

Stick with this stable. Master trainer. Get on early. Thats all punters.

Brett Johnson - good on a wet track but can't kick-away.
Livingston- one more unfortunate leg injury may see him undeservedly shot.

Clarke should probably try in blinkers to see if that can straighten him up.... and I wonder if we should contemplate having Normal gelded?

Some interesting comments from other Carlton Forums. I trust that the respondants are ok with me posting them here on TC. Anyhow:

Could be time to send a couple to stud!...........Father/ son material or the glue factory.

Blinkers on a few others...so they run straight.

Couple there who might respond to the whip.

And there are probably a few who need to be gelded.

Nice summary. Where do i get a bet on?

Unfortunately we won’t be having any starts in the Spring Carnival.

I'm 'staying' out of this one.
