I mentioned at work the other day that I (used to  ) have all my telco services with Optus only because they sponsored Carlton, and everyone laughed like it was an absurd notion.

And these were marketing people.... not understanding the significance of tapping into people's emotional links :?

Is this uncommon behaviour for you guys? when 2 products seem identical you go with the one that sponsors the Blues?

on the flip side would you not buy a product if the company sponsors Collingwont?

....not only that - but I don't fly Emirates because of their association with Collingwood...this is generational as well. Dad never used Esso when they sponsored the Tigers...(although BP's smurf figurines and cheaper Eskimo Pies might have also been a contributing factor).

Will only buy alcohol at Dan Murphy's even though I have a bottle shop 2 min walk from home. I wanted to buy a Dom Bagnato suit but the Sportscraft one was a better look, fit and price - so you can't always win - but it certainly has over the years affected what I purchase and what I don't.

Will stay well clear of Vodafone / rarely eat McDonald's ...shit....must get rid of Motorola Phone / will trade in Mazda Tribute for Subaru and will give those Batsanis shoes to a homeless man and go get some Milu's.

Then again - if young Nathan Batsanis wants to come over to Carlton with pick 51 - surely we have a new shoe sponsor?

I always make an effort to use products that sponsor Carlton.

I was always a strong supporter of CUB, luckily this didn't extend to Hyundai.

Man's gotta draw a line somewhere.

My home phone, mobile and internet are all with Optus. I always shop at Dan Murphy's, who are cheaper.

On the flip side, as TAC still sponsor Collingwood I refuse to drive safely and under the speed limit...

I made the mistake of buying a hyundai a few years ago when the sponsorship was announced and it was wiped out by a reversing truck at work two days later. Driven by a scum supporter no less :(

TY, Is that the Western or Eastern Branch of the Childbeater Associtation that you are talking about 8)

I only get Ken Caffyn to fix my plumbing.

And at my age, he's over quite regularly...
