Thanks for sending them through chyna - now in the Blueseum gallery:

http://www.blueseum.org/cfc/tiki-browse ... leryId=145

Funny I thought the 1987GF was about Carlton but I can see that the Speedo Girls were of as much interest to many on the day..

Anyway, back to some game memories frmo 1987. What can anyone tell me about Round 3, 1987... a huge 87 point win over the Dogs at the Western Oval...SOS kicked 5, 3 to Sartori and Murphy?

Meldrum won the BOG!

Yep, after 1987 the plan is to go backwards through premierships. Although I dont remember 1973 as being a winning year!

I have the Grand Final Souveniers from "The Herald" for 1970 and 1972 (although I'm sure others have these).

I have all the newspapers for the 1979, 81 and 82 Grand Final wins as well.

I am quite prepared to bring them somewhere and have them scanned and uploaded - but am unable to do this myself as I am very technically challenged.

molsey,

I have both The Age & The Herald Monday post GF souvenier editions from 87.

They are too big for me to scan but as I'm catching up with Jarusa on Wednesday, perhaps I'll lend them to him so he can handle it :P

The siren for the start of the 3rd Q sounds. Madden taps to Johnston who bangs into Kernahans hands - Goal! inside 20 secs. It's history from there.

Mark Naley is not doing so well. Article is paywalled but the summary is

Quote:
Former South Adelaide and Carlton champion Mark Naley admits the prognosis is not good after having another tumour removed from his brain. But he’s not giving up yet.

yep Mick exceptionally hot which was good as we had the week off with the Hawks having to play PF week before - iirc it was that hot Tuck played in short sleeves -Pat Cash doing a lap of honour re Wimbledon victory before the match Blues faithful booed him as he had hawk jumper on -a lifetime ago

Boys decided that they were not going to be thumped into submission by the Hawks as they had in 86 and earlier in 87 and decided to be pro active right from the start - Johnno Madden set tone early in that regard - hawks had been using standover tactics on us for a number of years - don't advocate violence usually but we needed to show early we were going to be the aggressors and in particular leaders had to lead the charge - a lifetime ago

Club maintain that 87 was our least talented premiership side but still in my view plethora of big game players who knew how to win -Kernahan Bradley Johnno etc - a number of lesser role players but all played their bit -in my view side would have been good in any era given those star players

In my view each side had multiple stars but each had 1 of the best finals players that ever played in Johnston and Ayres - both were unbelievably good in finals and fantastic finals records in both winning and losing teams - both played unbelievably given some of serious injuries - another lifetime ago but was a treasured memory
Go Blues

My man The Dominator lit up the ‘G in the 1st Quarter and set the tone for the rest of the match.
Rhys completely owning Dermie at CHB was a Wallsy masterstroke also.
