Can anyone tell me what's happening with Adam Hartlett and the Long Term Injury list? Are the club going to promote someone? I would have thought Sam Pleming might be worth a look (2nd year on the rookie list) and he's been hard at the ball whenever I've seen him play.

Would his size be any smaller than Digby Morrell? Certainly appears more aggressive at the contest than Morrell.

Anybody know what's been planned?

If anyone is going to get promoted, it'll be Setanta.
I agree.
Would like to know what is going on in terms of the LTI list.

My only concern with Setanta is that we really need a bit more starch in defence right now and he's still learning the positions. I think he's turn will come rucking primarily probably very similar to the role the Deluca currently fills. I thought Sam Pleming might have been looked at as he can play back and forward and from what I've seen is quite hard at it. Takes a good pack mark as well.

I'd like to see the rookies dominate in the VFL before they are promoted and selected for AFL games. Players like Clarke and Simpson can dominate and still are shy of the mark at AFL level. The chances of a player that doesn't dominate doing well in the seniors is pretty low.

Plemming for me, give the kid a go who knows he could prosper by the challenge. Setanta needs a solid year in the 2nds how can you promote someone who has only played 10 games of footy compared to someone who has played it all there lives. Plemming deserves it more if you ask me.

If the opportunity is there, I'd like to see a kid promoted too, even if it's just as a pat on the back, or challenge laid out in front of him, "play well enough in the twos and you might get a run son..."

Chambers and Walker definitely not listed...and Livo listed as test...
Perhaps all three in this week

It looks like Luke Livingston will be out of action for at least 6 weeks now after ungoing surgery to fix that ankle problem. Campo is appparently going to be out for 2-4 weeks with a checkbone problem. I think the club will have to promote someone, we just don't have enough talls to come in at the moment. Hartlett remember is 7-8 week away.

Who off? Just make Harlett 8 weeks again or tell Fish he can't play for a while? I guess with Thornton coming back in a month it won't be a problem with Fish?

Who on?

Rookies are:
* S o'Hailpin
* A o'Hailpin
* S Pleming
* N Becker
* J Smith
* D Batson

If it isn't Setanta, I'd have thought they'd have to give Bryan a go as a key defender. Unless someone helps me out with Sammy P and his form in defence this year, there's really no other option.

pretty sure that an AFL doctor has to endorse that it is an 8 week injury...

could we argue that livingston has already missed 2? - then another 6 to come makes 8

I'm not sure exactly how the rules work in regards to this. I think the LTI should be examined as 8 weeks is quite awhile, I really think it should be half that in modern day football - particularly with the fact that at least 3 listed players must be cut each year from AFL lists. Youngsters on the rookie list just don't get enough opportunities. I think 4 weeks to be LTI would be a fairer system but we're arguing symatecs now.

If we can list one of our players as LTI then I think Sam Pleming should be the guy to come forward. Second year on the list (rookie) and we really need to know wether he might come on or not. Our draftee's from this year just aren't ready at this stage. I don't think anything's going to change with Setanta because if he did come in it would be either ruck or forward he'd struggle in defence and it wouldn't be good for his confidence for that to happen.

Agree there spiffy - we saw what happened to livo's confidence after being blooded in a poor backline in 2002... Whilst I thought he did a great job, his confidence took a real pounding because of the state of our side at the time. The ball came in so many times that the odds were against him - he's only just starting to recover.

Would much prefer to see Carlos brought in on a forward flank/pocket as a wildcard forward - and just see what damage he can do (scoreboard or otherwise...)
