Well, given the fun we're all having, it was only a matter of time before a player(s) dispute came up.

No worry. We've got Kouta running around again for plenty

Probably the most disappointing thing to come out of this week. Surely the football department can see that Thornton is almost the most important player for us each week in terms of structure. He takes the best opposition forward each week.

If Thornton leaves because he's not offered any more than 210K, then the entire football staff should be fired, except for recruitment.

The guy is worth 300K if Kouta is on 250K...

If he does leave, I won't begrudge him, because 7th in the B&F and only being offered 210K is ridiculous, considering Waite is on about 270-280K. We'd want a first round pick at the very least, top 10 preferably.

I wonder who the 3 year offer is from....wouldn't put it past Essendon*. They need a key defender and Lloyd knows how good he is. He could walk too after putting a price on his head, with Essendon* pick 2 in the PSD...

If Fisher leaves, we'd better be suitably compensated, admittedly, he is tradeable

If either of these two leave through the fault of the club..... im gonna find it REALLY hard to buy a membership for next year :(

Pick 12 is their first pick.

Maybe we shop them around....cos if they leave, we'd better get suitable compensation for them.

I can't see why you wouldn't offer Thornton a 3 year contract.

Hopefully this is just posturing by the Manager of the players, but with the club as it is at the moment you have to be worried.

This is my biggest fear...particularly Thornton.

No offense to Teague, I like the bugga, but he got a 3 year deal after one consistent season, while Thornton has somehow strung together 3-4 outstanding years and only gets a pat on the back, "Well done son. You made me proud, how about a $100 spending spree at Cotton On."

And I thought only Carlton felt he was hugely underated, boy was that an over thought. Pay the man his due, offer 3 or 4 years, isn't that what we would offer Polak?

If we lose Thornton then give us pick 1 again in 2007.

Anthony McConville, manager of both players, said he met club officials last week but got no closer to resolving an impasse that, for Thornton at least, has existed for several months. It is believed Thornton has been offered about $210,000 a season for two years by Carlton but has at least one financially superior three-year offer before him.

Not another media negotiator !!

T-Bird should have walked in put what he wanted on the table, had it signed right then and there and then gets up and walks out.

Should not be playing hard ball with 1 of your best players. All of them, Betts, Simmo, T-bird and Fish just sign them already. We odnt need these sort of problems with players.

The bored is is joke, the coach is hated, the supporters are annoyed, lets do what we can to keep the playing group as happy as we can.

yeah.. blame the manager....

T bird is carrying the defensive key position post.. week in week out...So he should be on more than 200k...

Compare what our best and fairest has to do week in week out for a crust with what T Bird has to do.

Imagine T Bird doing FA running off half back on his own...

I dont expect him to leave by the way.. but 210k for him when Lance/Stevens/Lappin and ESPECIALLY Kouta are on heaps more???

Get real!!!

Something like this was always going too happen.

Thornton should be signed up for three years on $300,000 per year.

Fisher we can play hard too deal with, but should get two years on about $220,000 per year.

Lets face it, Thornton should be rewarded full stop, and Fisher should be given another chance too prove his potential once he can kick better.

We can't paint a good picture and draft other players with our core young guys wanting out.

This is another slap in our faces if this doesn't get soughted out, and the fact is us members deserve some good news stories. We have been calling for weeks too here the likes of Simpson, Thornton etc signing up.

Sure, one article is always spot on, but it probably is fairly close.

We need Thornton, because then we add Ohailpin, Bower and Hartlett and who we draft this year and our stocks will be rising.

Let hope he isn't good mates with Campo who say put a price on your head and come too the dons via the PSD.

Whatever the final outcome I hope the club does not get stuck paying KPP prices for a player like Thornton.

In two years time Thornton should not even be playing a key position if we want to be a decent team.

He is a handy KPP at best but potentially a very good flanker.

We need other (better) players to come in and play the key defensive spots at the highest quality.

If another team is prepared to pay over the odds for him then set up a trade for a first rounder.

Hopefully, the days of this club being run by players and player managers are over.

If Kouta is worth $250K then Thornton has to get at least $300K!!

If we are only now offering Thornton $210K, what have we been paying him? No wonder he's always cracking the shits!

Funny how everyone just ignores this bit.
