Norman 190cm 96kg / Rivers 192cm 90kg

Watching Rivers play against the Cats last night I had flashes of Norman playing a similar brand of footy. Rivers was floating around in the backline taking uncontested marks and making many spoils.

Physically both Norman and Rivers are similar - they are quick, versatile and tall. Norman needs to improve his marking and watching Rivers attack the ball it seems Rivers is more focused and determined than Norman at this stage.

Norman has the physical attributes however I believe his determination and focus needs to improve. I often watch training and again he gives 100% like most players however I would really like to see him give 110%. Norman needs to be more hungry to SUCCEED.

After all he has the ability & physique to play similar to Rivers.

Players over 190cm with 90 plus kg do not grow on trees.

The figure 194.7 came from Karl from memory.
If he thinks he's a millimetre over 192cm, I've got a jousting stick he can buy.
However his application, endeavour and focus seem quite good on the field.
He usually errs on the defensive side of decision making which is admirable for a young defender, he just needs bulk.
He just doesnt have the physical attributes at the moment to play on marking forwards.
He goes well on the leading types but struggles body on body.

Give him time. If he continues to stay inline off the field and retain his spot on the list, he'll be a top quality player.
He works hard in the gym which shows he trying to address his deficiencies.

How much do you want for that jousting stick BV? ????

I suspect Karl's biggest problem is his maturity - he's a young bloke out having a good time still. If we persevere within him he'll come good.

He definitely needs something. Looked completely disinterested before finally taking himself off.

Is Karl playing for the jumper? That is the question which many of us would like to know and one which Karl needs to ask himself.

For the trouble he's caused and his I just shagged half of Melbourne attitude, (not that i'm jealous much) I would rather a one armed O'hAilpin.

Normsn, Thornton, Livo and co are only as good as the midfield. Our midfiled got smashed in the second half and the backline just did not have a chance.

Sometimes he just doesn't look interested. The holding the ball in the Centre of the G yesterday was C grade stuff. He ran directly into a collingwood player !

If fact a few of our guys did that yesterday.

what about that big mark chris tarrant took at the goal square in the last quarter, norman just stood there and didn't even put an arm up to spoil, pathetic!!!

What made it worse was he left Camporeale one out with Tarrant. The next kick went in the Tarrant direction as well. When he runs off his opponent he should just kick it long and no fancy stuff.

Was saying to a mate of mine at the game, that Norman looked lost and disinterested.

Me thinks he'll be either delisted or traded (that's if anyone wants or is interested) by years' end if he doesn't pull his finger out, it's 'sionara', Karl.

Sad, but true.

Karl isn't alone in the disinterested field.

I think our team minus Stevens , French , Kouta and Lappin to a certain degree all need a kick in the ass and a poke in the eyes to fire them up.

He lacks real urgnecy in his play. perhaps he will come good but i saw him a few times touch Tarrant gently on the arm, shoulder blade, and i thought, jesus mate, this is the AFL and they are the enemy, you gotta get bot more c**** in you.

I'd say he and Tarrant have had a few big nights out together and could be mates from what i saw...NFGE Karl!!!

He's our fourth or fifth best defender. Yesterday, he was on their number one forward. we are undermanned at the back. Sure Tarrant nailed us, but the ball kept being delivered to their forward line. We got killed in the clearances all day. That's really the question, not Norman. He did all right for quite some time.

He's only young, i think we foget how young these blokes are, but they are representing the best club in the world, their are expectations that are high.

Goodluck to him and i hope he finds that bit of white line fever needed.
