:? Board Meeting # 2 started around 4.00PM today and is currently in progress.......

It appears that it is more likely now that Pagan will go however the Board is split on whether to appoint Mitchell.....

Sticks and Gleeson are pushing for Mitchell and I would put my money on Pagan going....

The $1.2 million has been put up by Fraser Brown, Greg Williams and other Associates....however comes with conditions as they want Mitchell as Coach.

Sos, Bradely and Ratten are in the running for the assistants roles....

I would love to see Sos, Braddles and Ratten in these roles but not if there are conditions such as who is senior coach, General Manager of Football etc etc....

Is Mitchell better than Pagan....I say no.....

Italian Blue: any idea if there's an assembled media throng? Was this meeting once again communicated via media release, or have they intentionally attempted to be more low-key tonight?

They tried to keep it low key but as usual, someone has leaked it to the media....

I just wish and hope that they reach a decision as all this speculation is again at the detriment of the club....

The Tlot Plickens eh ....

If they are putting up the entire $1.2 million to pay out Pagan, rather than merely covering Mitchell's salary, then we should take the money and run. That's basically an $800K saving over two years, or most of the money we owe the AFL. Even if Mitchell is the suckiest suck that ever sucked in the coaches chair, we would be stupid not to take that financial leg-up.

You'd assume so.......but Channel 10 did have Rob Waters on site for a live cross. He said that Pagan was in danger, and the only thing stopping him going was the split board decision...

Its pretty obvious that Mitchell is as good as I think we will get.

If other more desirable candidates didnt want the gig then its no good casting around for options that dont exist.

Anyway, we end up getting a low priced 'no name' coach out of this and the best that the football world will say is that we are in a 'team building' year in 2007.

No one in their right mind expects very much of us in the short term, and its likely that things wont be a lot different initially.

But of course, the unexpected can happen.

I agree, don't think Mitchell is our man unless he has been stacked up against all the other possible candidates. To be fair to Mitchell he needs to be promoted for the right reason and not for the quick fix.

If Mitchell was appointed without considering all options he will be under enormous pressure. I can already hear the flack from some supporters if we struggle next year with Mitchell...... Why didn't the club consider all options, knee jerk reaction etc......

Stop the rot and look outside the square.

All the mail suggests SOS will come in as a "circuit breaker" and wok with Pagan.
Unfortunately I suspect SOS is looking after the interests of SOS before the club. :?

The media again are gathering at MC L Park and yes, here we go again....

I don't understand what the rush is to appoint a new coach if they decide to sack Pagan.....

I say appoint a sub committe to head hunt prospective coaches such as John Longmire, Darryn Cresswell, Mark Harvey, Ross Lyon...I am sure that Sos, Braddles and Rats would want to work under any of these guys...

That would be like saying "We don't trust you enough to coach, but we'll keep you if you let this guy who has done a couple of part-time coaching gigs look over your shoulder"

That is the stupidest solution I've ever heard.

Couldnt agree more.
Unfortunately I have rapidly diminishing faith in the individuals making the decision.

Gee whiz, I'm back on the pagan bandwagon if we look at Harvey.

Why are Longmire, Cresswell, Harvey, Lyon seen as good candidates because they are assistant coaches, but Mitchell is not seen as a good candidate because he is 'only an assistant coach? ...

All I am saying is that we would be negligent if we didn't look at all options...

If the $1.2 mill was unconditional, would we be appointing Mitchell as coach??????
