Post subject: | WOLFISTER'S WEEKLY ONE CENT STATS - Round 3 |
Welcome to the big "Rivalry Round" edition of Wolfister Weekly one cent stats... ahhh we here at the big blue office at the bottom end of town remember lots of fantastic rivalries. Who could forget the fantastic statistical rivalries of um... ummm... I remember once when someone posted a "2 cent stats" column on the CSS site... does that count? OK, as a challenge for rivalry round, I'll see how many times I can use the word rival... starting now... On with the stats. This will be the 231st time these two rivals have met, Carlton just holding the upper hand over their rivals with 119 wins (51.7%) at PM-47... the unbelievable closeness of that PM stat really shows how fierce a rivalry we're talking about here. We've won 2 of our last 5 against our rivals (which were the last 2) at PM-187, and 5 of the last 10 at (PM-69). 24 of the last 26 times these fierce rivals have clashed, have been at the MCG. We have won 17 of these (62.3%) at PM+214. Overall these we've met our arch rivals at the MCG 44 times, for 29 wins (65.9%) at PM+948. Round 3 is one of the better rounds statistically for Collingwood's main rivals (haa - see what I did there!!). We have won 69 of our 104 Round 3s (66.35%) at PM+1215, which makes Round 3 our third most successful round on record. We've won 3 of our last 5 Round 3s (including 1 win and 1 loss of against our rivals) at PM-30 (our rivals handed us a belting 5 years ago...), and 6 of our last 10 at PM+44. These huge rivals have met 9 times in Round 3, with Carlton beating their rivals 6 of these times, at another incredibly close PM+7. This will be the 17th time we've played at the MCG in Round 3, winning 8 of our 16 starts at PM+48. Now to April 9... not only is this the birthday of my arch rival as a child (well... my sister), it is also a day that we have never been beaten on, winning all 3 of our April 9 starts (PM+110). This obviously places April 9 at equal top place in our "winning date" ladder. One of these wins was over our massive rivals in 1983 at Waverley... I remember this well, it was my sister's 5th birthday party so I couldn't go to the game. We won by 10 points, Bosustow took mark of the year, and my sister burnt her arm... To add to this record, the 9th of the month is statistically a good one for the Blues, winning 51 of our 73 starts (69.86), ranking the 9th as our 3rd most successful day. 13 Till next week, remember that 78% of arch rivals refuse to eat horse. 14 Wolf out. |

Much like Dr Who you need another statistician (time lord) to be your rival, they have to be evil though. Now, where can we find an evil statisitician. Great stuff as usual wolfy. Those 69 round three wins by Collingwood's main rival are also the most round three wins by any team. 69 and feelin fine. |
