There seems a disgruntlement about the TC board, a sort of 'I am so sick of this shit' attitude.

The Board lacks energy

and many seem eager for a fight

some have faded away (or are on a holiday 8)) others appear to simply want to stir up a hornet's nest.

respect does not exist

Some posters post to simply point out how posting posts is pointless.

Others call for more heads or less heads or new heads or old heads.

Some are headless chooks

some, apparently, are sheep.

Then there a re those who most use most of their time putting out spot fires

and those who light them

those who know things who now keep quite

'those that do not shut up

and many who drift away into meaningless ramblings (take this post)

What I am wondering is

does this site rather accurately portray the Carlton football club. Is this the Bluebagger state in 2006? Is TC a metaphoir for The Carlton Football Club?

I remember when many of us began posting, how invigorated we were, how we had a sense of direction, a focus, a hate and a desire.

I remember how the club burned bright in our veins.

How we wanted to voice our love
our disgust
or dreams
our memories

our bluebagger passion. Christ we even organised nights to meet up!

But that was then, that was when we were focused. That was when we had a meaning. But now. With another spoon, with little tangible progress, with monsters in the home rather than outside, I wonder

are we a living, typing, metaphor for our club?

is this all there is?

Should we change the club's colours to Fitroy's?

I have a lot to do with a bloke called Eddie Hart - who had an awful lot to do with Fitzroy as it fell. (it was to him the ballots were sent that never arrived and thus sealed the club's fate).

When he and I chat about those times the thing that scares me most is it could almost be our club he is talking about when he describes its fall. How it seemed incapable of dragging itself up but reeled, staggered like a punch drunk fell from pillar to post.

Is Fitroy a metaphor for this club?

I hope that as the lads improve and the wins start to roll in

as a challenge arises and the club becomes re-ignited

as the club finds its ancient strength and it rises

we on this site may be amongst the first to realize it because
it will happen here also.

Are we the mirror?

Are we the yang?"

There is no unity on this site
No cohesion

only tit for tat
or oneupsmenship

or stirring (with a wooden spoon no doubt).

So is this site a cleverly constructed metaphor for our club?

And if so

what the @#$%&! can we do about it?

Organise some sort of function where we can all get together, have a drink, have a chat, have a laugh etc etc

Something that resembles a cross between the First Bounce and the meet up we had at the Plough and Harrow the day before the Melbourne game where collected all those signatures.

That or perhaps even getting a lot of people on here to the next forum game at Glenferrie Oval between us and Bomberblitz.

Just something to bring us all together again.

5 years of failure & embarrassment tends to grate at people.

The thought of another 5 years of failure & embarrassment... well... :?

Good post danny. I sometimes wonder if we are in the middle if the end.

Then I think of Marc Murphy and I get all moist and giggly again.

Then I think of Graham Smorgon and the viscious circle begins once more…

Is it a metaphor?

NO

Why????

Because the majority of Carlton supporter I know in the real world think that their team is GREAT. Sure they are dissapointed when we lose. Fed up with losing all the time. Frustrated with the timespan necessary to get back up but aware that it was/is inevitable draft penalties or no. But they dont go....'if so and so stays or this happens or doesn't happen then I don't support Carlton any more' like many here do.

I joined this forum thinking great, I can post and read the replies that will be fun but I very soon gave up beacause too many here ( not all) are interested more in argument and negativity than anything else.
While the exchange of thoughts is sometimes interesting to read I learned post serious observation or praise for the club at your own peril
IMO this site and others like it bear ino more than a tenuous relationship to any reality outside cyberspace yet many posters here act as if they know whats best, whats right, what should happen on field and off and that their opinions will change decisions made.

That ain't your average supporter. What the average supporter does do is support. No matter what, no matter who, no matter when.

As for being like Fitzroy....maybe...but the Lions stumbled along for a mighty long time before the final gasp and we have only been down a relatively short while. Nowhere near as long as 1945 - 1968.

Like your posts dannyboy

yep not as long

but already its 1995 since we last won a flag and how many more you reckon?

3?

8?

what if we miss this time around

15 years? so that'd be 25 years (gulp now its getting real serious)

and we've won 3 spoons now (remember when we yelled none!) what about if we win another next year

what about we get up to 6 spoons or 7?

how we travelling then?

I understand your frustration with this site

and funnily enough that's my point

the frustration you feel with this site

I feel with the club.

I just want to relax and enjoy the footy, have a chat about things etc.

But we Lurch! We stumble! We are a laughing stock - hmmm remember how we once laughed at Fitzroy. Or St Kilda? Or the Doggies? They laugh at us!

Did you see smorgon on the tellie tonight? Did you believe him?

Fill you with confidence?

What did Churchill say after the first major victory in North Africa:

"This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

I just hope TC or CFC don't look to Nauru for salvation.

Could be an off-beat source of talent though. Set up a couple of games to be played in the camp there. Anyone with a bit of talent gets immediate citizenship. Not sure Vanstone would approve.

Dunno dannyboy.

Maybe we will never win another one.

BUT.....and heres my point.... I HOPE...and I barrack

see it doesn't matter who the president is or whos in the team its the jumper we support no more no less

and I support despite the bad stuff (both onfield and off) yet I don't think I know better than they do. and some here do think they know better and could do better.

btw......Still laugh at St Kilda always will

Nahhhh we'll win one

and that's how JE stayed in power and almost killed this club off. Never again for me.
