Smorgon brought the strings to this club with his begging...

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 22,00.html

As one of the ten richest Australian families..he compromised the club...

At least Browns strings were painted blue ...!!!!

Fitzy do the right thing by the club and allow us to get on with business...

And the morons on this site talk about "Browns strings""...

I really believe things are about to turn the corner for us now....

We have to go back to the values that the club held dear after our two previous premiership droughts, 1915-1938 and 1947-1968.

The begininnings of neither of these periods of success were grounded in bringing in sycophants from the club, but new people from outside the club (barassi etc).

Bringing in four ex-players to coach will take us firmly back into the Elliot days of arrogance without results.

This club picked up 14 premierships by being smarter not more arrogant than the other clubs. Just because we bring in Carlton people does not mean success.

Take a close look at String Theory.

But since the George Harris days... (Real Carlton arrogance we have won 8 premierships in 40 years.. and 8 in more than 60/90 humble years before that.......

Look.. trust me when i say.. things are about to change....

The Brown article just backed up something i heard today...

The word is French was fed up with Pagan.....

And that article hints it.

But a class guy is French and in my opinion will be remembered as a Carlton man..

I reckon if French had been happy with Pagan he would have said so.

I know from some of the guys at North that Pagan really likes to play mind games with the players. I met Barnaby when he visited once in New York and the one thing that really struck me was how bright he was. He clearly would have seen through the bs.

As for moves being on foot, I feel like the current set up vis-a-vis the board and coaching panel are irreparably tarnished as a result of this week's events and if a change is in the winds, it will give us a chance to look forward.

If Jim Wilson at the Hun is correct on the voting patterns (7-3; 4-6; 0-10), and the last is after the "AFL Intervened", i want to know who from the AFL it was that intervened.

The article says that Smorgan was on the phone with the AFL:

Quote:
It is believed a series of phone calls were made between the AFL and Smorgon before the meeting that announced Pagan's retention

Fitzy was at the meeting:

Quote:
Former Calton champion and AFL commissioner Mike Fitzpatrick was in the meetings representing the league

So, who is at AFL house who wants to control us? Has it really come to this - was it the Spew????? is he now in defacto control of our affairs?

Anyone?

This needs to come to a head now.
If the AFL have something on Carlton, it needs to be resolved. If it's financial, they can stick their money and Carlton people will have to look after their own.
If it's salary cap breaches or taxation or whatever, bring it out and let us cop our whack.
Whatever it is, it has to end.
The AFL will continually wave this over our heads and control us.

We are just existing at the moment. We are on life support. We cant let the AFL continually stand at the switch threatening to pull the plug.
Decisions need to be made and immediately. We cant wait until the AGM.
The board, the coaching staff, the administration, they're all in survival mode.
Their decisions will be affected by self preservation.

Amen BV. The stink of Demetriou is all over this debacle and the board is obviously the Vichy government.

Well, at least they've done something positive and proactive!

as if someone like Voss, who has options aplenty, would come and work under the direction of not only Smorgo, Diggers, etc... but a coach who's a dead man walking, but who still has a two year contract to oversee players who don't like him.

They're kidding themselves.

French was just filling in time anyway. He is not up to it and if he stayed at Port Adelaide he would have been delisted long ago. French wasn't happy about playing games in the VFL. Did he deserve to be dropped? I think so. Did Barnaby French think so? No Way!!!

There is no doubt that as soon a new board is elected, you would not want to be in Dennis Pagan's shoes.

I just hope season 2007 doesn't turn into a shit fight because that will hurt the club even more. It will have a negative impact on the players and supporters more than anyone.

The media love this stuff and if there are people on this site providing the media with stories then I suggest you don't because you are dragging OUR club through the mud.

As I posted in an earlier thread:

Dont think "The Spew" didn't have had a grubby hand on the machinations here.

"The Spew" is chairman of a company called "The Baxter Group" who are involved in Enviromental/Land Fill/Waste Management and are in direct competition with Fraser Brown's company.

Together with Brown's refusal to co-operate with the AFL's grubby investigation of our club and the direct competition with Baxter Group - "The Spew" would have been fuming if Brown was involved with underwriting Pagan's dismissal and having some quasi-control of the the Carlton Board.

Time to @#$%&! the AFL right out of there.
