Is anyone else worried about this week?

All I have heard about in the wash-up of round 2 was how bad Collingwood was, how Malthouse is under the pump and how heartless their forwards are. Just have a horrible feeling after a week of it the ammunition will be there for them to come out and cause an upset.

Perhaps it is because in the last few seasons we have never been favourites but I've come to like being the underdog!

Convince me TC'ers.

I've tipped the Colliwobbles for the wooden spoon this year.

Saturday's match will be another step in the Pies downward spiral.

Even with Buckley and Fraser playing they are mediocre at best, without them they are lost.

Ermm, maybe I've said too much.

has a very similar feel to it, to 2002 round three, except the shoe was on the other foot.

and we came out 20 point winners.

we will still have to play better than we have for most of the other two games in reckon.

hopefully we can grind out a 4-5 goal win. thats what i reckon we should win by.

I hate us being the underdog.

When we go into a game expecting to win comfortably and we do win comfortably, that's when we have "arrived".

We will beat Collingwood because they aint that good and we are currently playing better than them.

I have the exact same feeling, probably because I was so confident we'd beat Essendon* easily

its hard to right of old foes like it is someone like the bulldogs as their as no "response" if we lose.

You beat the filth and you tell them, you lose to the filth and they tell you.

There are only two teams in the AFL i cant stand losing too, and they are Essendon* and Collingwood.

I used to think Richmond as well, but due to their years of shitness they are no longer really a threat to anyone. Maybe the older supporters, but i certainly am not too concerned if we lose to Richmond. Dont get me wrong, i want to win every game, but losing to Richmond, Bulldogs etc.. just doesnt generate the same passion as losing to the filth and buumers.

Having said that, a little like last week, i think we should be able to win this comfortably.

You will notice that i said like last week, we should win this comfortable, and that is becuase, if it wasnt due to their luck/accuracy in front of goal we would have belted them. For all their dominance in the first 3/4 we where always still around the mark, and the last quarter was more a reflection of how we can play.

If we play for 4 quarters like we did the last quarter against Essendon* then we will easily by 10 goals.

No...what has me worried is how we play their Brittain style game plan...they had by far the most use of the ball out of any side last week...they just didn't USE it...I believe we'll win if we play accountable footy. Pies do have Wakelin, Clement and Johnson in pretty good form so I think Archie and a few midfielders will need to help Fev and lance out...they might not kick a bag this week, but we should beat them in the heat on Saturday - if we don't...we'll be the ones under the microscope.

Last year's rd22 match is probably an indicator in that in the last, when The Filth were coming back, Buckley was running rampant if my memory serves me correctly.

I'm not going to say no Buckley, no Pies, but their engine room without him sure has all the sweet sounds of an FSM Niki 650 with one cylinder missing.

I'm sure we'll win, because I've always thought we match up to any team on our day, but against the hated enemies, there's always that pre-match tension.

I'm with you on this BB.

Our backline is still exposed with Thornton and Livo (maybe) out.

Pagan is also concerned

Pagan not writing off Magpies

The Carlton coach was doing his best yesterday to spread the message to players and fans that under no circumstances should the winless Magpies be underestimated on Saturday at the MCG.

"There will be a decent sting in their backsides," Pagan said. "If I know a few of their blokes, with some of the articles that have been written, I wish they had been written about 10 days later.

"Elite football is 90 per cent between the ears. Don't ever think otherwise.

"Anyone on any given day is capable of beating anybody else. Don't ever mistake that.

I agree BB...I like to be quietly confident not overtly confident.

But I still worry about the traditional enemies...especially when they are down.

I'm not overly confident - they will be busting their asses to avoid being 0-3.

I think their defence is pretty reasonable too.

Barney is an important key to this game though & if he plays like he did in the last qtr on Friday we'll be right.

I'm worried that we'll play down at their level (not that we're that far above it) and if we do, the winner's just a role of the dice.

Double sixes for the Blues!

Agree that our potential backline weakness could be exposed against the Pies. I think we're right to be considered favourites, but as we've seen from the past two weeks going into games as favourites hasn't counted for much.

Denis is right, we need to be switched on and ready for anything the Pies offer. If we play at our best I reckon we'll win reasonably comfortably, if we don't we'll have a bloody tough match on our hands.

This week is a must win for us. It will be very difficult to beat Port (AAMI) and Fremantle (Subiaco) and we could be looking at 1-4 start and I reckon we will be copping a bit of negative media attention.
