A 202 cm ruckman who's great below the knees and plays like a rover. Damn he could be anything if someone teaches how to ruck.

He still looks as awkward as Harry was, in every game.

Still keep him up and firing and Barney in the Middle and we mightn't need a back up.

Kicks like a nine iron

Still with Whits and that mit of his on Friday night..... Who cares.

Dermi said he can kick the cover off it during the last qtr. I musta missed the game he did that.

Easily his best game for us on Friday night, I thought.

If he could ruck he'd be an ideal 3rd tall forward/relief ruck. Get to work Minister.

Yes he can looka little ungainly, especially since he's a light-framed player, but he is a good kick. has kicked a few long goals for us this year and last. The fact that he has a bit of the "zippy the pin-head" about him doesn't help his ungainliness either.
It would be nice for him to work on his marking skills, and some of his decision-making....but the kid has potential.

If Lance & Fev are firing then Deluca will get the 3rd or 4th best defender. He's 202cm so he's gonna be pretty hard to match up on. I can see Deluca kicking 2-3 each game.

Just for those who think height means nothing in football if you were watching a game for the first time on Friday night and saw Deluca take that mark on Hird who would you think was the better player? He made Hird look 2nd rate.

Something interesting that I certainly wouldn't have guessed about Deluca was that he only kicked eight goals last season, despite playing every game. I would have thought that he'd have comfortably kicked double this number. He also never managed to kick more than 1 goal in any game. Encouraging then that he managed 3 goals on Friday night. Was an interesting fact I reckon.

If Chris Bryan has been mooted as a big man who can play forward as well as in the ruck, is it possible that in future it could be a battle out of Deluca and Bryan for the spot of third tall/backup ruckman in our side?

Key to our forward setups.
Can take a true contested mark and with height stretches opposition defence. If he can kick a couple of goals a game, he'll do his job.
IMHO, DeLuca/Fevola/Whitnall/Waite and Lappin/Betts is a formidable forward line.

Loved his work setting up Whits 1st goal in the last 1/4.
Ball bouncing on Southern wing, Deluca and Fletcher involved in a foot race. Deluca outruns him and keeps the ball in play, confronted by 2 Dons he hand balls to Betts who kicks forward. His pace and surehandedness surprised me. Then I heard Stevo after the game say that he is the 3rd fastest in the club over 40m which I dont believe but it shows that hes not as slow as he appears at times

Been a good pickup and gives us a three pronged attack up forward with respect to players who can take a mark and as Brisbane and Port have show thats the key to winning flags. Agree with Scott that his duel with Hird showed the advantage of having a genuine tall player up forward and I thought Sheedy undersitimated Deluca by thinking Hird could just run off him and create rather than having to mind a man.
Deluca also has good ball skills for a big man and his disposal and decison making are usually ok as well.
His rucking isnt his strong point but as long as he provides a contest i think he is still value in this area and will improve....

He's a pretty handy player, great below his knees for a tall bloke too.
The only criticism I have is that 95% of the time he takes a mark he immediately plays on and wheels around in a big arc to get on his left. If I know he does it almost every time I'm sure opposition coaches will be aware of it.

Moderators I am sick and tired of members posting to the wrong thread clearly this post belongs in the Scott Lucas thread.

I've been saying how important ADL is to our Fwd structure for some time now. With him in form it helps to take away the pressure from opposing defenders that try to double/triple team Fev and Whits! (this was shown last Friday night). Keep it up Archie! :D

And just on his running style, it seems to me he looks ungainly because he has a tippy-toe type action. Probably needs to use those long legs to stride out a bit more. Does anyone know if we have a sprinting coach?

Seems to be a good set shot for goal, even under pressure.
I like that.
