I thought the Saddington deal was pretty good for Pick 52. What I did not know is that Sydney is still picking up half his salary. A good deal just got even better.

Dont worry Shag. I spoke to the Club today to ask why we hadn't come out and proclaimed to the world as to the #1 pick. After all, we've come last and we need some positive press.

the Club told me not to worry, that - being consistent with the AFL's wishes on these things - they wouldnt make an announcement as the press and such announcements would interfere with the exams that most of the draftees are going through at the moment. This was why the draft was moved back to last week in Nov. rather than earily Nov. a few years ago. Carlton will not make an announcement until the day of the draft, when the kids have all finished exams and have time for all the interviews that will result from the day and attention.

So keep your fingers crossed. No doubt they're aware of everyone's expectations.

...I took it as he wanted to say that, then put his foot in his mouth realising that it could start a media frenzy so he just changed to.... uhhh...Wayne Hughes isn't telling us...

Personally, I thought he just overcompensated...like he didn't want to give away that we are picking him so he kinda went too far the other way...then realised he can't say that we are OR we aren't....so he changed it to "I don't know" give nothing away fence sitting bulldust...

Do you work at the club or something? I wa stold by a St Kilda fan that Thomas posts on one of their fan sites. Do you have anyone who knows anything real here?

I would suggest not posting for a little while and getting to know a few of the posters then realise who knows what etc. PK.

I noticed you joined today. It might be good to just sit back and read and see what's worthwhile reading.

Thanks for the advice CarltonClem. I may have to do that, today in my first 24 hours I have been abused by a man with dots which may have been a joke.

It might be a good idea to highlight certain posters names who have real contacts so irregular posters can come in for an update and know what to believe.

I would suggest PN, that some with "real" contacts don't want everyone to know that as a fact, or to let on who the contact is. And the contacts probably wouldn't be happy about being outed either!:P

As Clem said, once you get used to the various posters you will understand who is respected for their opinions.

Remember that Talking Carlton is just part of the evolution of on-line forums. Many posters here have "talked" to each other for many, many years, and that will take a newbie quite a while to work out who's who and what's what.

Basically it is a bit like the newspapers. Take everything you read here with a grain of salt, until you can sort out the wheat from the chaff for yourself.

Quick cheat guide:

* Synbad is a gruff dude who seems to have contacts in to the Club
* Blue Mark has some too. Synbad and Blue Mark argue alot about their contacts and it's always a funny read.
* Jarusa is the Footy Geek who writes for the club website. Dont know if that gives him information or not.
* Molsey is Mike & Dan who writes for the club website. Again don't know if that gives him information.
* Dannyboy is the Ghost who writers for the club website. His posts are worth a read and he stirs lots of people up.
* The Tyrant is the Buzz from the website. He is often funny but sometimes not sure whether he is on something.
* Sheik, Blue Vain, Carlton Clem and a whole heap of others have certain views about the CLub and the list and they are always good t read.
* Cazzesman, 79Vintage and a few others watch alot of under 18 football and probably know what they are talking about for draft picks.
* Mrs. Caz is really nice and tries to keep everthing under control.
* Electric Blue, sticksaftersiren87 and keenyhunter are respected posters who seem to have some link but DONT ASK
* theres lots more people who post alot and have interesting views. sorry for leaving them out

I worked this out and ive only been on for a little while. Do as Mr/Clem said and read for a while. Its fun. get involved in the arguments too, even better fun.
