1. FEVOLA - With 60 goals from 15 matches, playing for the second bottom side in the comp, in my opinion should win the B&F. Has not played a bad game all year.

2. SCOTLAND - Has been the general playing across half back. His elavation to the senior group a few weeks back just proves how much he has come on. Like the fact that we never loses his footing and stands tackles.

3. WHITNALL - Has had a good year playing in the backline. Great on field leader. Reason that I don't have in in the top 2 is because he has been beaten a few times this year ie. Lucas, Riewolt, Croad and Hall have kicked goals on him.

4. SIMPSON - Along with Murphy is our most promising younger. Super year. Runs hard and uses the footy pretty well. Is now part of the leadership group.

5. MURPHY - First year player who averaged 20 touches a game before doing his shoulder against Brisbane. Future Captain in the making. Class Act. Will finish lower in the B&F at the end of the year due to the amount of games played, but to this stage have him in the top 5.

6. HOULIHAN - Really improved his consistency this year. Still needs to be more physical at the contest. Over the last month has had run with roles and done really well on players like Aker & Eagleton.

7. STEVENS - Started the year well but has really struggled in the second half to overcome the tag and this is why is now being played across half back. Really looks lost there and I think needs to play more forward and rotating through the middle. Needs more support.

8. THORNTON - Really improved this year and has rarely been beaten.
Has added a more attacking side to this game this year as shown on the weekend when he has 25 touches and 12 marks. Having Lance down back has really helped Bret.

9. BENTICK - Been consistent all year without setting the world on fire. Still learning the game but will be an important player in years to come.
Will need to improve this kicking but very good at winning his own ball.
Really happy with his progress.

10. CARRAZZO - Started the year well than had a few quiet weeks before being dropped to the VFL. Since returning has been in our best 5 or 6 every week. Does the job every week and rarely gets beaten when given the task to shut down a forward or midfielder.

Next in Line

BETTS - Needs to be more consistent, but has really improved the defensive side in his game with his chasing and tackling.

WALKER - I had him in the top five after the first 6 - 8 rounds but has really fallen away. His kicking & desicion making at times is very very poor.

He beat Hall hands down.

Pretty good summary there. I would change the order IMO to be:

1. FEVOLA 8)
2. WHITNALL
3. MURPHY :P
4. SIMPSON
5. SCOTLAND
6. STEVENS (he'll just get votes cos he is Nick Stevens)
7. BENTICK
8. HOULIHAN
9. THORNTON
10. WIGGINS

You are correct, I think Murphy will drop out so keep an eye on Blackwell (provided he keeps getting game time), Betts (Consistency!), Walker (lets hope), Kouta (more games like last week please!) & Carrazzo.

I dont thin k we're too far away. Walker would definitely be Top 10, may even still be a shot at Top 5

Not sure about the clubs opinion......but here is mine!

1. Fev
2. Scotland
3. Whitnall
4. Simpson
5. Thornton
6. Walker
7. Murphy
8. Bentick
9. Stevens
10. Carrazzo

Just want to point out thou that iIf it were a performance based poll then Murphy would be out-right 2nd! It's only because he's missed half a season that he's dropped so much.

His poor disposal really hurts us

disposal does hurt us sometimes but I would argue that in the last 2 weeks has taken on both Cooney and Lovett and if not broke even has had the better of them
Apart from Lucas the only other guy at Essendon* that could have won Saturdays game off his own boot was lovett and he didnt

I'm not 100% sure how the voting works but won't it be hard for Murphy to get top 10?

The top 10 in my votes are:

1. Fevola
2. Scotland
3. Whitnall
4. Murphy
5. Houlihan
6. Thornton
7. Carazzo
8. Stevens
9. Lappin
10. Bentick

Just outside are:

11. Walker
12. Simpson

Simmo could have easily been top 10, but I judged him as the 6th best player in some games. Lappin has turned it on in some games, but is clearly on the way down. Stevens has lowered his colours this year as well.

Actually one disappointing factor is that I have not even given a single vote to a ruckman. No votes for French, no votes for McLaren and no votes for DeLuca. It tells a story it does.

Said it before and still don't understand why people don't seem to rate him but I reckon Heath Scotland has been our most consistent performer this season. Fev has been the best and also quite consistent, but I think Heath would have to be right up there. Lance has perhaps fallen away slightly but his first half of the season, especially first 7-8 rounds would have seen him pick up a lot of votes. Kade Simpson has had a real breakthrough year and would be a chance at the top 5, in fact probably is 4th. So the top 4 for me at this stage:

1.) Scotland
2.) Fev
3.) Lance
4.) Simpson

Yeah fair point.

He has really stepped up and improved on last season after making an impact and giving us hope in 2004.

But Fev's in front for me.
Anybody who can kick 60+ goals with basically no decent deliveries into the forward line is doing pretty damn good.

Hell, if Forwards earned votes from the umps with their brownlow voting then i'm sure he'd be up their with the favourites for that to.

Scotland has been good but gets easy possessions(too many the Bowden syndrome) Either Fev or Simmo.Simmo has had a fantastic year.

It would be fantastic if Fevola would win it, i mean even 2 years ago although he was kicking goals you could tell his head wasn't really there and he trained that way. Now, especially due to the fact that he was a step father and now a father he is starting to act like a man and get everything out of footy as he can as it doesn't last that long.

7th & 8th last 2 years & I think he's had a better year this year. Campo finished 4th last 2 years & how many easy possessions did he get?

He gets a few cheapies like any player does but surely you can acknowledge that he has had a pretty decent season. Ask yourself this: could Heath have done any more this season up until this point? I personally don't think that he really could have. 3rd in the AFL for possessions or whatever it is but is a very good kick, can use either side and is also one of our tougher players in terms of fending off opponents and breaking tackles. I honestly can't fault his season at all and am surprised as I said that he is not more widely acclaimed.

Not sure what you're implying but you want the ball in the hands of your better disposers of it - Scotland is one of those.

Maybe he gets them cos he's one of only a few on our list who is creative! Rather he have it then plenty of others
