Every week for the past few weeks I've noticed and been curious about the blue strap things that the guys wear underneath their guernsey.

Does anyone know what they are and why they wear them?

Can they put one on Stevens and rig it to give him a shock every time he pulls out of a contest?

If you notice at the back of the players with the strapping that their is a bulge near the top of their shoulders just below the base of their neck.

There is a holder there that a device is slipped into that measures (not exactly sure 100%) such things as distance run, heart rate etc for the game.

Players wear it at training as well I believe.

Now there will be someone who can give a technical answer as such, but that generally is what it is.

Yesterday I believe Betts, Stevens, Fev etc were wearing them.

It's amazing how the AFL are shitty over ankle socks, but they allow these ugly things ( no matter how valuable the info is they provide) too be worn.

Synners is right, it's designed to measure player movements around the ground.

How far they run, how hard they run at certain times, the intervals between sprints, the lot basically.

Might also measure heart rate, but that's just a guess on my part.

So four units with heart monitors and arm straps are a little over $5k.

A wise investment.

Its a measuring device. Trout gets the reports at the end of the game and analyses each and everyone

He then gives Pagan a critique of each :?

We are about 3 to 4 years behind all other clubs on these - we couldn't afford these devices until this year.

Impossible. As you've seen in the atheism thread, I don't believe in god.
