How wide an arc are they keeping from you today?
How silent are they?

What a glum lot they are! Talk about an implosion!

And the best thing? They can’t blame anyone but themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whenever I get close they just look down and say “Not a wordâ€

In actual fact I told them that they managed to lose the first two games last year before Hird reignited them in a Rnd.3 thriller against West Coast...(see Toyota ad). What Friday night's loss did was make me think just how cunning Mr.Sheedy might be this year. Come the half way mark we could find Essendon* sitting around 12 th spot or perhaps lower. A few injuries and suspensions will not help them at all without much depth and Sheedy will undoubtedly do what I would do in this situation. Find out what kids can play / play guys in different positions...e.g tell Laycock he is full forward for rest of year / Dyson rover / Fletcher CHF....whatever - and if all works out - the Bombers have a priority pick, a high rnd.1 pick, a player such as Nick Dal Santo fall into their lap, Merv Neagles son to keep the traditionalists happy and the Bombers are primed and ready to go again in 2006. It's not all doom and gloom down at Windy Hill...and remember - it never will be as long as their is a Commissioner Evans.

One first rounder will not change their fortunes.
It is very rare for a first year player to burst onto the scene and change the fortunes of a struggling club.

Do you read any posts properly Phoenix Johnson? It's not just 1 first round they are going to get - like us in 2003 if we hadn't got punished. Add in a player like Dal Santo and they aren't looking all that bad.

Yeah.
I do.
And the fact that you say that a first rounnder, or two, will change their fortunes in 2006 is crap.
Utter crap.
It takes at least 2-3 years for any rookie to start showing glimpses of his wares and consistency.
Cooney is slowly starting to show it.
McLean is slowly starting to show.
Jared Brennan has taken his time, but is starting to show.

Dr Sherrin,

Sheedy is very cunning, he just signed a new contract last year so if they are going to have a bad one it might as well be this year.

Yes...I concur with you Mr. Johnson...they do take time....but put a few in the mix with those national Draft pick ups...the second/third year players (Laycock / Dyson / Stanton / Bradley) coming through...and under the guise of Sheedy (and lets face it - he's a proven genius...like him or not) anything is possible. I mentioned Merv Neagle's boy because if he does get picked up in the third round he's ready for senior footy already. Don't believe the Rohan Connelly articles of last week who started writing off his own team and used made up quotes from an opposing clubs recruiting officer to personally bag Henneman / Bolton etc. Put Lloyd in that side on Friday night (we weren't missing anyone of that importance) and we wouldn't be having this conversation....we'd be bemoaning the fact that we'd peaked way too early and had lost the plot. And don't post a Bret Thornton response please!

Laycock is alright.
Dyson, the jury is still out.
Stanton, will be a good player.
Bradley, as much as I hate to say it, he is the best of the lot.

Other than that, they haven't got much else coming through besides Monfries.

Agreed...we better stop this mate - we might end up on Bomberblitz if we're not careful!

The Carlton hating Bomber at my workplace arrogantly stated that we won because Whitnall luckily slipped the Bombers taggers, but normally this wouldnt have happened.

He also said he was getting sick of losing to us.

I'm selling my place & my real estate agent is a Bombers fan, so I've been verrrrry diplomatic to him.
