Although Butterss did not tackle this specific issue, one problem for the Saints would be that the bulk of the initial liability — about $1 million of the $1.45 million it owed to various people and parties — was owed to commercial creditors, such as local businesses and the Carlton Football Club, one of two creditors to vote against the survival scheme. The commercial creditors fared far worse in the scheme orchestrated by then president Lindsay Fox, receiving only 7.5 cents in the dollar.

It's about $8,000. Collo would not accept the 7.5 cents in the dollar and put his hand up to have them wound up.

If I was StKilda I would get $8,000 worth of 5 cent pieces and get a truck to deliver it to MC Labour park. Get the truck covered in all its sponsors logos and call the media to tell them when it was going to be delivered.

Were are an absolute shambles.

If it's only $8k, it's typical crap journalism, suggesting that the "bulk of the liability" is owed to creditors such as the CFC.

Owe, I thought this thread was about the Saints paying us to take Aaron back as his medical bills far outweigh any value they are getting from him.

You will find that Alex Jesaulenko is amongst that list of players who are owed money.

$8,000 in 1984 was a fair bit of money, maybe $50,000 in todays money?

Ok, then StKilda should get 3 trucks.
We are still a shambles.

Breen, who kicked the point that won the club its sole premiership, was the biggest creditor among former players, with a debt of $64,448. Premiership coach Jeans was owed $27,349.

If I wasn't a Carlton supporter I would find that kind of stunt hilarious :x
If it was the Pies or the Bombers who were in our kind of trouble I would love to see that happen

Be that as it may we are paying all bills as they fall due.

If the entire football community and media wants to play the "kick a club whilst they are down game" (and believe me we have endured a fair kicking over the past 4 years) I am more than happy to put my steel capped boots on.

Well that's up to you but for me the best 'FU' to all the kickers is CFC being successfull again on & off the field as soon as possible.

Yeah but me and Deano Supremo are 'haters' with long memories - we will not only derive a great deal of enjoyment from Carlton's next premiership, we are also going to derive a great deal of enjoyment from painting the letter boxes and front fences "Navy Blue" of the following bunch of arseholes:

- The Spew
- Ron Evans
- Wayne Jackson
- Graeme Samuel
- Bill Kelty
- Patrick Smith
- Keith McGowan
- Mike Sheahan
- Caroline Wilson
- Dwayne Russell
- "Insert any Carlton hating arseholes name here"

think you would find it is a lot more than that.

In 84 an inner city house probably costed 10-15k. The equivalent property now is 500+k. Think of historical prices for cars, tram tickets etc...

Regardless though, I dont think the saints should feel obliged to repay that money.

I don't think they should feel obliged to pay us our $8K, but they should damn well feel morally obliged to pay the players what they were owed.

With interest on the $8,000 owed and considering inflation perhaps we could just call it even for Lenny Hayes?
