I have just finished watching the game on the replay. Carraz had one kick that went to the Bombers in the 3rd quarter (see above) and 1 bad decision with the last quarter kick that went towards Campo and then went out of bounds.

He kicked alot of long bombs deep into the forward 50. One Kouta marked and goaled. 1 Deluca let slip right through his fingers 25 metres out another he kicked to Lance which was 1 on 3 which was dubious but the ball spilled and Lappo kicked the goal.

All his handballs hit the target so I think you best go back to the VCR and have another close look.

IMHO it's end of discussion for this thread. There were several others i.e the one's I mentioned earlier, that were far worse offenders as far as disposal goes than Carraz.

Regards Cazzesman

What the? Sounds like a really bad game to me, he should be droped for Clarke

Good stuff Mr Caz.

Carazzo has not played a bad senior game and has been in our best each time he has played. Said this before on anothjer thread that we need his run and creative play....reminds me of Chris Johnson the way he likes to run and create and like Johnson does turn it over...yes thats right ..watch Johnson and he turns it over too...but the amount of ball he gets and damage he does outweighs the turnovers. I think its ditto for Carazzo...
We need his run and spark and he will learn about better decison making and wont do Gubby Allan type passes across goal etc...
For a rookie player Carazzo has been value....

I concur (i.e. agree  ) almost word for word with Cazzesman. On returning from the game I spied remarks about Carrazzo's poor disposal, and decided the only way I could verify if my eyes had deceived me was to watch the replay .... so I did. By my reckoning, he made 2 clanger kicks, and 2 kicks to a contest where we were outnumbered, plus one poor tackle. Otherwise, his disposal was excellent, on a number of times he elected to drive the ball deep to the hotspot (as practised in training), and he made 6 tackles.

I note the HUN stats credited him with 3 clangers, presumably crediting one of the kicks to an outnumbered opponent as a clanger. I'll stick to my 2.

Now 2 clangers out of 21 kicks is just under 10%. This is significantly below the AFL average.

PS the above is not an impression, it is from detailed OBSERVATION.

:D

Also, for those who did not listen to ABC radio pre-match interview with Denis today, Denis when questioned on Carrazzo's good game, commented that he is not usually one to give players a big wrap, but said how good was he getting 19 plus kicks in only his 4th senior game?????

He also noted that Shane O'Sullivan had insisted that we had to get Eddie to the Club, and he was pleased he took Shane's advice.

Agree with what has been said.

While not the best disposer of the ball, he can get it and get it many times. He matches up well on certain fast forward pocket players, namely Davey, and he does the job that is required of him.
Get the ball and move it out of the backline as quick as possible.

Fluffed up one kick at a crucial stage in the match, but then again, who hasn't?

Davies...now there's a bloke who needs to work on his kicking a bit more at training. Some of his set shots on goal wer terrible. I think he ended up with 1.3 for the night.

Disappointing.

easily one of our best...his kicking lets him down sometimes, but he was doing a lot more of the one percenters than most of his team mates for the 1st 3 qtrs.....a shining light and his kicking was better than previous weeks

And the only one he kicked was the one he shouldn't have, and missed the 3 he should have got. Unbelievable shot though, will be on highlight reels for sometime IMHO.

Carrots is here to stay so people will just have to get used to it. the kid gets the ball. forget all other football theroies, this is the first and most important.

Bad user? Pereceptions are like toilets...

As others have said, he made a couple of clangers and bombed a few, two of which resulted in goals. For mine he has been in our best every game he has played.

Ok, more of my 2c worth on Carrazzo.
There wer times he could have kicked to an open player and instead chose to kick to a contest which we lost.
I really dont think looking at the tape actually illustrates what his decision making was like. I thought he was involved in the play alot and did some good things but he also zoned off his man alot and didnt press giving them alot of room.

Like many of out players he really needs to work on a bg part of his game.
were far from being the complete outfit .
Carrazzo probably personifies where were at and who we are at the moment.

Carrots finds the ball, has pace, creates, and his long bombs (read direct kicking) into the F50 this week and during the Wizard cup resulted in goals. I nearly died when he kicked across the face of goal in the 4th quarter, but I think his composure for a 4 game player is pretty impressive. I think he's going great guns at the moment. How many other teams would have two Rookie listers in their back 6??

Lots of bad kicking this week, the number of short scrubby kicks that bounced short in the first half was ridiculous. Most of these were training drill kicks to a leading player as well. The whole team needs to work on their kicking this week, we should never have been 28 points down to begin with.

As for Davies, don't get me started. Is that 1.3 two weeks in a row now? He is really starting to look like a player now (he finally convinced me in the Wizard Cup), and with him and Betts up foward I think our forward line looks pretty dangerous ..... but geez he's killing us with those gettable set shot misses.

its not about how many touches a player get its what he does with them. Stats can easily paint a different picture on a performance hence Carrazzo.

The simple fact is that a lot of our recruiting has come from the bottom end of the draft and the rookie list. It is a credit to the players themselves, the senior players in the group and the coaching staff that so many of these players including Carrazzo are playing in a side that may play finals this year if things go ok.

If Carrazzo was a superstar he would still be at Geelong, and he wouldn't have been available for us. As it is he is doing all right - there is probably a fair chance that he never played defence in his life before getting into the ones at Carlton.

So what we have is a guy with a bit of an awkward kicking style (probably why he is not at Geelong) new to senior footy - playing a position that is probably foreign to him who will only get better. His challenge will be to hold his spot as a support player as we stock the team with superstars. The stuff between his ears will make or break him in the longer run.

I can think of one retired champion from Carlton who many moons ago started off in a back pocket and eventually worked his way into the midfield to become one of the better midfielders going around in his day.

While not saying Carrots is definitely going to be a champion, I look forward to the day when he corrects his disposal.
He'll be a dangerous unit when that happens.

On our entire list the player who racked up the most possessions in their first 4 games of senior footy is Nick Stevens.

Number 2 is CARRAZZO!

Not a bad effort that.

Much rather someone who can get the footy than someone who cannot get the footy.

I think Carrazzo has been pretty good since he's come into the side.

But it's pretty amazing really isn't it? How many players have we had over the last few seasons who have no problem at all finding the footy, but simply aren't accomplished disposing of it? I know it happens to every club but we seem to have had quite a few such cases.

Then on the flip side you have your players who dispose of the ball beautifully but just don't have that natural ball winning ability, the ball magnets. Players like Cory McGrath and Trent Sporn spring to mind here, and to a lesser extent, at least in the firsts, Kade Simpson.

As an illustration, imagine a player with Carrazzo's ability to find the ball with McGrath's disposal!
