Great signs.

We were slightly down on the form I think we should acknowledge that.

The scum played (and kicked) out of their skins and still could not beat us.

Both teams had key position players missing and a few players each under injury clouds or underdone, but we came through in the end in true bluebagger style.

Special mentions to French arguably his best game ever.

Betts, most certainly his best ever game. :)

De Luca also possibly his best ever game as well.

Carrazzo, showed great determination tonight and 20 odd disposals, another best ever performance.

Whitnal/Fevola with 34 disposals between them we could expect more than 6 goals, but in the end they were the difference.

Stevens, class all class, possibly the best ever pre-season pick up.

Kouta has become such a legend that they now call him by just his first name. 8)

Great name that by the way

The Wizard cup campaign had a lot to do with this win in terms of fitness - Essendon* had no legs at the end, we were fit and ran over the top of them.

Still dont think Houla/Sporn are 100% fit

We have season reserved seats in the front rows of bay N10. The guests at the club's dinner get seats in bay N11.

That chap named Andrew Demetriou was among tonights guests. He left at 3/4 time. He probably thought His Work Is Done!

You can add Waite to that list Effes.

Who would have thought 2 years ago we'd have seen Barney taking 6 marks and having 17 disposals in a single game - they would have been his season's stats in 2003.

Huge game by Carazzo, I thought he was the only one who had a fair dinkum crack in the first 3 quarters. He needs to get rid of those Simon Fletcher hospital passes, one of which went across the goal mouth and nearly cost us the match tonight, but overall I think he was our BOG.

We were nothing short of disgraceful in the first 3 quarters. No manning up, lacklustre chasing, disinterested tackling, idiotic disposal - yet completely the opposite in the last quarter - why couldn't they have started the game with that intensity???

Finally - the last quarter by Lance Whitnall was simply superb. We really needed a leader to stand up and be counted, and Lance did just that.

Very annoying, isn't it? That makes 2 weeks in a row. Not only did we again meet a team that seemingly couldn't miss, while we struggled to not-miss. But they kicked the majority of their goals from deep in the pockets or forward flanks.

Pleased we somehow managed to find a way. Great fighting spirit.

Fit or not, I think Spornie is due to suffer from our 'rotation' policy. (He'll be a good player in the long run.) He's really struggled the last couple of weeks I thought.

Can someone tell Davies not to try and bounce the ball through when there's an opposition player on the goal line. That's now 2 weeks in a row where he's kicked 1.3. It's good he's getting 4 scoring shots a week, but at the very least he needs to be going at 50% in the role that he's playing (especially since he's not the fastest player and struggles a little in chasing down rebounding defenders). Otherwise he's going to need to find another role in the team.

Thought for most of the game, it was also like last week in that they (the Scum) were able to bring it down the far side (furthest from the TV cameras) of the ground without our guys touching it, or even being in the bloody picture !!!

We seemed happy to let them get to 60m out and then try and rebound their bomb into the fwd line.

Yeah Carrazzo is a find. Plenty of spirit and pace. hopefully his kicking will improve. But he's a real goer.

2nd week in a row we've looked like poo for much of the game yet matched the opposition in scoring shots. If players like Davies can get their goal-kicking right it'll go a long way toward us making headway.

Ooooh yeah I hear you brother. Too scared to look when Davies is within scoring range. That freak goal he kicked was unbeleivable, even more so because he misses the sitters !!!

But, at least he's getting the aggot and he does have talent.

Well done Kouta!
Well done French!
Ditto Lance!
Good effort Carazzo (still needs work)
Well done Stevens

But jesus, 10 more scoring shots than them...................we should have destroyed them.

Lance, Fev and now Eddie...................we should be pumping sides week in week out.
Last week, i think (besides the fact that our kicking was a disgrace) we were out coched! It almost happened again tonight. I think that most sides have studied the Lance & Fev show and have come up with way of shutting them down.

Lucky Win, hell i'll take the points, but still a very lucky win. We gotta be better than that next week if we wanna beat the pies.

Not quite, he still had to bend Ron Evans over, hopefully at the exact same same point as we hit the front. Karma baby !!!!

I am glad we won, and very happy with the way we played in the last Quarter.
We shouldn't have got away with so many behinds though. Our kicking to goal was shocking. And what was with Fevola? He was off last night, was he just held well? or was he just having a bad night? I think he was held well by Essendon*, but he needs to get beyond that and fight it...

Not happy witht he umpiring last night, so many of Essendon*'s goals were gifts and how much was Mclaren favouring Hird!!!!!????

I hate it when they do this to us. They begin to lose the match and fall asleep. All of a sudden, they wake up in the last quarter and kick many goals and win the match.

Is this a strategy of theirs?

Inconsistancy Sami, which is bound to happen with such a young, developing side.

Well who was the guy with the head like McLaren?? Well at least I am not the only one who thought it was him, the guys around me thought it was McLaren too. Very favourable towards Hirdy anyway!
