How good is he. 3 goals in game number 2. A mate called him the carlton equivalent of Neon Leon last week. That mate now has a sore jaw. The only reason he's still a mate is because he is a St Kilda supporter and laughed when Riewoldt cried last week.

The best thing about Eddie is his work rate. His snaps on goal are just the icing on the cake, he's like a little ferret that keep snapping at your heels. Fantastic work ethic.

:D

He doesnt have the endurance/fitness to play 4 full qtrs. You need to save him for later in the year when the grounds are heavy. It is a massive jump from training twice a week at TAC level to the training that occurs at the highest level.

Eddie's value will be measured in the goals he kicks, but his pressure on the Essendon* backline when we weren't in possession was exceptional. No wonder he's becoming a cult figure.

Geez, Eddie is the best thing that's happened to us in ages. Real pace, real crumbing, real instinctive goal sense. And as has been said, a great work rate. He and McGrath can really close quickly on the opposition players, forcing errors.

We haven't had a crumber type since Heaver, but this bloke's much much better.

Ra da da da da.

I don't think I've seen a better player in the role Eddie plays. You just DON'T escape an Eddie tackle

And the bit I like about Eddie thus far is;

Match Stats on Carltonfc;
Carlton Goalkickers 2005.
1.Lance Whitnall 5
2.Brendan Fevola 5
3.Eddie Betts 5

Even his name is short! :shock: still you don't need to be 190cm to kick goals now do you.

totally agree... but... he's still young and can't run out a match.

for fitness alone, he'll have to stay a burst-goal kicker off the bench.

Did anyone hear Dermie on the Ch 9 commentary?
When the season was 5 quarters old, of which Eddie had played maybe 3, Dermie said something like " Aaron Davie was more advanced at this stage of his career".
Maybe a reasonable comment after 5 games but after 5 quarters?What a tool.

Dermie = the most overrated commentator with the most biased comments available. :roll:
