And we must not forget how Barnaby came to Carlton - in a trade for selection number 16, ironically a selection that the Blues later lost courtesy of the AFL. Thankfully we didn’t lose Barnaby

Can someone enlighten me how this happened, I've forgotten.

This is where the AFL Commission headed by the biggest hypocrite of all Ron Evans (ex-President of Essendon* when they were responsible for rorting the Salary Cap  ) penalised Carlton for taking part in the first 2 rounds of the National Draft of 2002 and 2003, we actually traded our second round pick (ie. Pick 18) for Barnaby French - the AFL actually spat chips over that one as they specifically told Port Adelaide not to trade with us - but couldnt make it public becuase they didnt want to be seen meddiling with the integrity of the Draft.

Well done to our website contributer who with his last paragraph managed to stick it to the AFL - Evans and Demetrispew are still wringing their hands together and saying they were to lenient with their penalties on us.

Geez asking how that happened was tailor made for AGRO to answer.

Go Barnaby...its great to play a game ahead in the ruck contests for a change

Congrats Barney, your form last year was one of the key's to our resurgence.

Dare I say it, but I reckon Barney is the barometer to this team. When he fires, so do we.

Agro,

are you saying that the trade occured before the penalties were given?

Vet - they were. the penalties were announced 2 days before thedraft frmo memory, well after trade period. There were some suggestions that we should have traded all our picks for players at the time!

We were talking about trading our #1 pick for Trent Croad. AFL would have only screwed us further and made the penalties run into last years draft, so we'd ahve missed out on Russell and Hartlett

Yes that is exactly what I am saying - however I know for a fact that the AFL sent out unofficial word to other clubs not to trade for our Number 1 & 2 Picks. Which kind of makes a mockery of the farcical AFL Commission "Black Friday" Meeting in November 2002.

Richmond were in fact screwed over because they traded what they thought was their Number 4 pick for Kane Johnson - this ended up falling into the Kangaroos lap and became the Number 2 pick (and they got Daniel Wells).

But Demetrispew was quite satisfied that the "integrity of the draft" was not tampered with.

Congrats to Big Barns on his 100. He initially wasn't sure if his 100 was to be last week or this week, so yours truely came to the rescue to let him know. Believe it or not, the AFL wasn't even sure  It was really good to be tonight at the G against the bumbers as his mum came over from Adelaide to attend the game. I'm bleeding cause I had to miss out on tonights celebrations  On ya Barns.

A good game by the big Banana. A couple of moments of cringeworthiness granted, but overall a solid game for the big fella. Well done on the milestone.

There was a lady sitting two rows in front of me that kept saying "go Barney you big spunk" She was sitting with an older lady and a lady with short hair. Are you here?
They should have been ashamed of themselves. Leaving a 3/4 time. Shame on you.

This isn't a 'I told you so' but it;s no co-inky-dink that we resurged in the final quarter when Barney got involved.

I will now only refer to Barney as 'The Barometer'.

Early leader for Most Improved player....saw a taste late last year...the goal from the centre against I think Essendon* that wasn't allowed is an example.

Barnaby now takes marks in the backline and is dangerous around the ground...credit to him and the coaching staff sticking with him.

Yes that was me. I think I'm Barney's biggest fan, he's such a trouper and he played SO well on Friday night, it was great too see. He's just playing better every week and getting better looking as well is that possible

Sadly I had to leave. 28 points down was just one of the reasons I left. Yes I am a bit ashamed but there were other reasons why I had to leave and I am not ashamed about those :P

For the record I got home just in time for the last 1/4 on the TV!!

Thanks BIT for posting this message for me, love yer work.
