Some interesting news has come out of the EFL recently.
Not big news, but news nevertheless.

Seems the Mitcham Football Club has signed Mil Hanna to play for them for the 2005 season.
As a Mitcham player myself, it's pretty exciting having an Carlton premiership player down at the club.

Will be interesting to see how he goes.

Reckon he'll play in a forward pocket or half forward flank.

He'll play there at some stage, BT.
However, if he has been out of the game for a bit (don't quote me on that), I think the Mitcham coaching staff will want to ease him into the fold by playing him in positions that don't require you to have too much match fitness under your belt.

Should be a big season for all three Mitcham senior teams.
Especially the 18s.

Wow

That's great news PJ. When is he fronting up? I wonder if he's been keeping fit.

Dunno.
The seniors train on Tuesday and Thursday.
I train on Wednesday and Thursday this week and then Monday and Thursday for the rest of the year.
Will keep an eye out for him tomorrow night and let you know how he is looking out on the training track.

Great pick-me-up for the team if he's fit, agile and firing. He's been gone a while though.

Yep.
Hence the reason why I mentioned he should play in a forward pocket or half forward flank to get some match fitness under his belt before he takes on any bigger roles for the side.

Watch it with Mil, he was the man that brought Dirty Dave to the club.
It will be interesting to see how the CEO of the Mitcham Footy club handles player negotiations.....

I think it should be alright re: salary negotioations etc.
Won't get much per game.
Probably somewhere between 500-1k.
Mitcham are smart operators.
If they see someone trying to do a shonky with them, they'll know and back out straight away.

I know that Broderick, Sziller, Matty Rogers and Kellaway are all getting something like that over at East Burwood.

pj, that was tongue in cheek.Dave and Mil have already milked what they can.
Even Dave is finished with Kouta and Hamill on their last ever contracts.

Sounds fishy to me.
Mil is a wealthy man and pushing 40 now. Why would he play after 7-8 out of footy?
I think he retired in 1997.

In Jack Dyer parlance if Peter Bosustow was "A good ordinary player." I think Mil may have been a rung or two below that.

You're kidding yourself. The man retired 400 years ago.

He's too old. If i were you i'd tell him "thanks, but no thanks"

And no, i don't play for another team in that league.
