Actually they're not.

I'm going off the article BV, are you telling me the whole thing is bogus?

Does the article quote anyone from Carlton using the word "skinfolds" Jim?
Players are having their food intake controlled by the club and their weights are being managed closely but skin folds aren't the criteria at this stage of the pre-season.
The article has a negative slant but the truth is, the overwhelming majority of players have added muscle, improved their endurance and both strength and fitness are up. Hence many are recording PB's in most areas.
Its all positive as far as I can see.

It's a Gleeson article - he was always going to take the negative approach and not portray it just like you did.

Never mind the fact he probably did minimal fact checking and made any contact with the club prior to publishing.

Didn't St Kilda have their own fat club a few years ago? Dal Santo was ranked 38th or something

I previously understood it as you do, and agree with you on the condition of the players. Whether they're using calipers, scales, hydrostatic weighing, DXA or nothing at all, as I said previously it is such a controlled and elite environment that consistency of measurement or assessment is all that really matters.

The only negative here is that the club is trying to be progressive, and yet somehow there's a story in the paper that talks about a 'fat club' as a recognition of failure or a punishment.

I'm certain that none of the officials involved in administering or constructing the program are likely to have referred to it as such, but that's about it.

Very considered and articulate. He has a clear idea what is required and has the confidence in his ability to teach that message. Liking very much what I am seeing so far.

Very impressed with BB press conference and how he answered some of the leading questions.
Nailed our issues and kept reinforcing our long term goals. Very impressive.

Loved his presser on Thursday idiot asked if Cripps was playing. BB replied; "well he wasn't named". (Idiot was unspoken but obvious)

Well....it is fat isn't it?

Should we call it the "Excess Adipose Tissue Club"?

Made a very good speech at the family day ... he kind of reminds me of David Parkin when he first started out ... the effervescence is so similar

Is presenting at ANZ headquarters in Melbourne tomorrow and I have myself a seat...

Brendon spoke for an hour to 100 ANZ staff today:

- it began with a CFC 'Bound by Blue' vid
- some background and overview of his philosophies
- talked a lot about leadership and culture being the same thing
- proclaimed Sam Docherty as THE footy head who knew everything a la Sam Mitchell
- said it's a start, no big grand vision, but for now all about teaching
- said his process was 9 hours long and he knew Carlton were serious about the state of the list and the club

He spoke well. Clearly passionate. Clearly enthused. No grand statements and no big claims.

Thank you.

"As a young team they could have fallen into their old habits, but they stuck to their plans until the end of the game," he said. "The work that they have done on a zoning style has been outstanding."

Whether it's a favour from a mate or not that's great to read. At the very least it shows the connections Bolton builds with his players
