Daniel Hoyne: “The #1 profile at the moment, you think back to what Geelong were doing [last year], with the footy Geelong were 2nd, without the footy they were 1st. This team has both sides of the ball ticked off but they also have the clearance game & the contest game at the moment which is ticked off, that team is Carlton.Carlton right now, if we took away ladder positions as such & just purely had a look at form right now - they are clearly the most in form team in the competition whereas others potentially have reasonable profiles, they've got a couple of gaps in there.Carlton aren't as bulletproof as what Geelong were this time last year, but they are as close to being bulletproof like Geelong were currently of any team in the competition.”

David King: “If they were in the top 4?”

Daniel Hoyne: “I'd be tipping them for the Premiership, that's the challenge [being outside the top 4]. Since this bye period has come into Finals, 5 of the last 7 Finals series a team has gotten out of the 5-8 bracket into at least the Preliminary Final.”

David King: “So what's the scope? How far can they go, off the data?”

Daniel Hoyne: “They can comfortably make a Prelim, I reckon they could get through to a Grand Final. Absolutely, they keep going like that for the next 6 weeks given what's happening to everyone else across the competition? They can get to a Grand Final. It's stunning, absolutely stunning in terms of what they have been able to do.”

David King: “Amazing.”

Lid firmly on bondi. We have to win a few more to even make the finals, and then where play them will make a big difference too.

So let me get this right

Pies/Cats - Need Pies to win even though that is vomit worthy
North/Ess - Be nice if North got up (& funny also)
Syd/GC - Want Swans to lose to dent their chances of squeezing us out of the 8. But also if GC lose that's pretty good as they will be out of the running for our game next week.
Bris/Adel - Bris won't drop out of top 4 so go Lions, don't want Adelaide taking our spot
Haw/Dogs - Barracking for the Hawks over the Dogs in Tassie, just like last year, uuugh
St K/Rich - Saints the more immediate threat so better if Rich win
Port/GWS - Better if GWS lose to stop them squeezing us out, can't see Port dropping out of top 4 with Rich as their final game.

Haw/Dogs - Barracking for the Hawks over the Dogs in Tassie, just like last year, uuugh
St K/Rich - Saints the more immediate threat so better if Rich win

If those come through I think we are in...
We'd be 8 points clear of 9th and 6 points clear of 6th.
So wed have to lose both and 6-9 all win both
And there are two instances of those teams playing each other

Yeah I see tonight’s game as a win/win. Collingwood win improves our chances of making the 8, but I think we’re going to make the 8 anyway and a third Collingwood loss in a row would be oh so sweet after a year long media circle jerk over the filth. If we’re chasing a flag over just making the 8, more Collingwood vulnerability is a good thing. This would improve our flag odds. Looking forward to enjoying tonight’s game with a good outcome either way

That's pretty much it.

Coll and Port would wanna start winning again soon, especially Port.
Collingwood have been trumpeting about injuries though (what, two?) so they've got a ready made excuse.
Apparently GWS have a good record at AO though.

Pleeeeeease can Norf beat Essendon*.

If only ... that would top off a great weekend if we beat the Dees

I think the big ones are we need...

- Pies to beat Cats
- GC to beat Syd
... as I see the Cats and Swans as our biggest threats

Also good would be if ...

- Bris beat Adel
- Port beat GWS
- Rich beat St.K

I am thinking about it completely differently....

I am looking at who is in front of us, not who is behind us. I want Port and Brisbane to lose, so that Top 4 is still a possibility after we beat the Dees on Saturday.

We want to be locked into a finals berth come Saturday night, with the worst case scenario being a 5th or 6th place finish and a home Elimination Final.

Win this week and we will be very difficult for anyone to stop. Dare to dream.

GO BLUES!!

Can't fault your optimism Mil

But your scenario needs Brisbane to lose to the saints in Brisbane, port to lose to Rich in Adelaide etc.

I know it is highly unlikely, but I want us to be hunting the best finish we can, not looking over our shoulders.

It keeps the players hungry when there is a chance.

I guess the point I am making is that we can still control our destiny, so no point worrying about who is behind us.

P.S. If we can't beat the Dees this week, I will be barracking for as many upsets as possible. I don't want it to come down to the final 2 weeks.

Just remember that if we beat Melbourne and they lose to Hawks and Sydney (still a chance to happen) there is another way in
