We are not exactly setting the world on fire.

If Teague can get us to win over Richmond or West Coast, Ill start to take notice.

Until then, we are still an under-performing, inconsistent list who has beaten a few bottom teams.

If the last 5 games were the first 5 of the season, we'd be sitting snugly in the 8 at 3 wins, 2 narrow losses and a positive %.

But do go on.

Still, no hurry to announce Teague as coach just yet. He's not going anywhere.

...and to your point Duke, I think the likes of Mark and Juddy and Cain Liddle have to ask themselves if David Teague is the right call for 2020, does that necessarily still make him the right man for the job in 2021, 2022 when the likes of Murphy, Simpson, Thomas...possibly Ed Curnow aren't there... I mean it's all very well having some senior leaders having those discussions with decision makers at the club, but with those guys in the twilight of their career - and don't get me wrong - great players so I'd listen to their suggestions but do you appoint someone a bit more senior to help steady that ship...and I don't know what that looks like, but I would hope that those discussions are being had to support a young coach...and whether you think the training wheels are on or off... that's largely irrelevant in this context...and to your point there's no one at North talking about Rhys Shaw's training wheels - but the Blues definitely need to find a model that's a bit out of left-field to what they've had over the last 20 years and whether that involves Paul Roos is probably better discussed at Raheen over some pan-roasted quail and truffle pie.

Wonder if Teague will apply for the Saints job? (Or the North job for that matter).

Imagine you were in a job that you were doing well and really enjoying, but there was no certainty of tenure past a couple of months. A similar job comes up that would keep you in work for the next, say, three years. What would you do?

My point being that all the discussion so far seems to have been in the one direction. I understand that Judd's comments were blown out of all proportion, but nevertheless nothing particularly inviting about Teague was said. What's wrong with admin emphasising that they'd love to talk to Teague about the position at the end of the year. Show a bit of enthusiasm towards the bloke, (without necessarily committing to anything).

He gets a couple more wins and we'd better.

From the short footage of Crippa I watched last nite, it's more likely to be coming from him and Doc and plenty of young un's as well. They love him and they are winning.

Brisbane will play 10 games against Doggies, Port, GC, Norf & Hawthorn.

They’ve had a good year, and we showed we’re capable of matching them, but they’re not the measuring stick.

Brisbane top 4, Fremantle top 8, Sydney pushing for finals
vs.
Melbourne bottom 3, Bulldogs bottom 6?
(all prior to Carlton game)

Sounds like the opposite of what you've observed!

When your 17th or 18th, most sides are above you.

Brad Lloyd's a nice guy...and he'll listen. But he knows that if players start declaring who they want as coach, internally and externally - then that's a potential recipe for disaster. The message has already been delivered by the man himself. He's a definite candidate and will be asked to interview/psych test.

Jeez there are some nitpicking keyboard warriors on this site

Sydney were 14th when we played them
Fremantle were 8th... but probably lucky to be in the 8.

Yes, Brisbane was a good win... but as has been mentioned time and time again players usually lift significantly for the game after the coach gets sacked.

So I stand corrected
Personally, I think that is an encouraging start for Teague, but not mind blowing.
I rate him as a past player and assistant coach, but giving him the nod for senior coach is a harder decision.

If you guys are happy to give Teague the job on the basis of beating 8th, 14th, and Brisbane... with 3 losses in between...without looking any further for other candidates.... then be my guest.
Bolton had a better record... and look how that turned out.

The Carlton Board and the selection team rightly have high expectations.
I'm happy with the approach they are taking. I think Judd had a bad media day.... but I don't think they have ruled Teague out at all.

It’s two losses. But that’s just nitpicking. :)

Unfortunately common sense is not required when posting high on emotion.

If Teague can knock off 1 or 2 of West Coast, Adelaide, Richmond or Geelong. Plus win against, Gold Coast and Saints. Then personally I think he will put himself in a leading position to continue as head coach.

FWIW: Brisbane were in 5th position when we beat them and dropped to 6th afterwards.

If the players want Teague to have the job, show us, this Saturday.

4 quarters, 8+ goal victory mandatory.

This.
Put up or shut up.
I'm sick of seeing this playing group wilt under pressure.

Agree with you the Crows, Eagles, Tigers and Cats are serious challenges to any team at the pointy end of the business and will determine whether Teaugy's destined is to be next CFC senior Coach and let us to the 17th premiership.

Well we don't have a bat signal here ,
it's a rather more complicated system
Of semaphore, calisthenics, high wire
Trapeze and smoke signals.
Could take awhile.
