Finished crushing Sheehan, so needed another soft, vulnerable target

This Bolton guy is pretty awesome so far

Quote:
The Carlton Football Club was in esteemed company on Friday, as a handful of club greats returned to Ikon Park to impart their legacy and passion on the current playing group.

Premiership heroes Mark Maclure, Stephen Kernahan, David Parkin and Robert Walls joined Chris Judd in sharing their experiences at Carlton and what it meant to represent the Old Dark Navy Blues.

The visit was an initiative by senior coach Brendon Bolton, who since arriving has endeavored to instill a real sense of belonging amongst the playing group, supporters and administration.

CARLTON expects all four first-round selections to gain meaningful NAB Challenge experience as midfielder David Cuningham emerges as a pre-season bolter.

The Blues were able to secure a quartet of selections in the first round of the national draft, with the NAB Challenge opener against Hawthorn only 19 days away.

SUPERCOACH 2016: SIGN UP NOW!

The draft’s No.1 pick Jacob Weitering has put together an assured pre-season that will set him up for a strong debut season.

But it is the development of two metre tall key forward Harry McKay and dashing inside midfielder Cuningham that has pleasantly surprised track watchers.

Was there another draft yesterday?

Cuningham was the final pick of the first round, unless you're quibbling about the poor use of 'with' instead of 'while'

Any who, hardly a shock that the kids are going to get a run given the squad sizes are what, 28? Just worth remembering that they're on a reduced workload so their track form needs to be tempered with the fact that their senior mates are doing another 7 or 8 hours of training a week.

Certainly more impressive than last year's crop if the early reports are anything to go by (but then again, said crop is also rapidly improving).

Of course, but it seems like every player on the list is responding to the new training methods. Whether the athletic component will be in touch with the reality of match-day requirements remains to be seen of course, but all early indications are good.

Indications are that our new coach is very switched on to the demands of the current game. I believe hewill take us to a place we have not seen for all of the 21st C. Not necessarily this year but soon. I wish him more than an ounce of luck and I hear he has all the players with him. Been a long time since that happened at CFC.
