Here's another thing to discuss (although not our problem), what sort of compensation should the Filth expect?

Filth will get a 1st rounder for him (provided they don't bring in any FAs, although they still might get a 1st).
This pick will come immediately after their 1st rounder in this years draft.

Massive unders for cloke he would be worth two picks in top ten easy

It'd be exceptionally difficult for Collingwood to land another player though.

They pick up someone through free agency (outside of Harry O leaving too), they get no compensation for Cloke.
They may retain a player or two, which Geelong also did with Ablett, so I doubt that would play much of a part.
Unless they pick up someone like a Caddy or Zac Smith through throwing away a first rounder, they probably wouldn't entertain such a deal unless they had decent compo for Cloke secured.

Compared to the compensation that some clubs received for losing players to the expansion teams it really is a joke.

Check through his posting history, he is typically spot on and he's a much respected source of info on BF.

And that's the risk he runs again going early on Cloke. Every indication is that he's coming. It's definitely more likely than not ... as it stands now ... but this is the Clokes we are dealing with and the Pies will be desperate.
Things could easily change.

They will not greet him kindly if he plays for us.

But he's a filthy premiership player...they have to!
Don't they?

It's not his fault Eddie got rid of the coach who got the best out of him.
Their supporters would boo Eddie and Bucks instead, or is that a bit too complex for filth supporters?

I doubt Cloke will be at Carlton.
I'm with Sombrero on this, we have a few we can develop and if we have to trade for a KPF then I'd go for Lynch at a cheaper price (less TPP pressure) till our kids grow up.

Saw all the Pies players at Motel last night, no sign of Cloke however

Coincidence?

Big call for Pies to match our offer considering they'll be sending a message to every future free agent that they'll cave on terms if they do.

I'm still split on whether I want Cloke and I'm not sure if we'll know if it was the right move for a couple of years but I'm glad it's not one of our A graders doing this to us.

Look he easily warrants a 5 year deal the pies have put themselves in a tough position as they really need to now cave in.

Friday 14 Sept the Blues met with Cloke's team and made him an offer he can't refuse.

It's now in the Pies court - match the offer or Cloke comes to the Blues.

OR, do you know the likelihood of Coll matching the offer?

Blues offer heavily front ended - makes it more attractive to Cloke & more difficult for the Pies to match.

Win win for the Blues, either Cloke comes across OR Pies match it and have to squeeze others on their list.

Darren Parker (?) on SEN said he heard exactly the same thing.....heavily front loaded etc...

What he heard was that his father wants him to take the money but he is still keen to stay at the Pies.

Not necessarily....

I think its a combination of things:

-Judds own contract being heavily front ended, this being his final year meaning he isnt on as much coin as previous years.
-Clearing out of experienced guys like Russell, Thornton, Bower and probably one of Warnock/Hampson will free up some cash, albeit probably not a significant amount.
-Waite/Simpson/Scotland on veterans list so only half of pay in the cap
-McLean more than likely to get a reduction in the price of his new contract, given his 400k+ over 3 years for very little output over the first 2 years.
- The recent signings of Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuze, Yarran some of which likely to be backended given the club at the time had an inkling theyd be making a play for a big fish in the off season.
- Players possibly taking pay cuts to accommodate Cloke (not sure about the truth to this but have read it before)
