Elijah, in the odd chance you're reading this, if the world of professional football isn't for you and is causing you so much duress, just walk away and you will be so much happier.

why do you assume it’s professional sport causing him grief?

most “garden variety” mental illness is the result of cofactors, trauma and repressed feelings/pain almost always a part of the story. we’re all on a journey to healing and hopefully, if there is an intentional effort and discipline, towards a more enlightened view/understanding, attitude, intentions etc etc.
… and sometimes that journey happens in a very public forum. like visual artists, who mostly can stay out of the spotlight ans show their work, be celebrated for their work as it’s also a work in and on themselves. musical artists like in the spotlight and wear their pain on their sleeve a lot of the time. mostly id agree it can be bad for such people if they can’t balance the demands of public attention and neediness. but sometimes it’s amazing to see a man or woman grow as an actor or artist or professional sports person and transform their mind/psyche/heart over the journey and we all get to sharing in it.

if it’s as you say i hope Lij can do what he has to to get away from the game for however long. even forever if need be. but im not sure why we would assume that is the case. lots of people have to work through such issues at some point in their life. more do than don’t i would guess. no body escapes grief and sorrow for example. just nobody.

i’d like to know what level of benefit sports psych is at these days. i hope it’s more than “practice your celebration routine and find your joy” stuff if a few years ago.

Why Motlop?

Has done some neat passes leading to a few goals in the past few games, but continues to fall over, misses tackles and rarely gets the ball.

Very frustrating

Not sure about Doc either

Throw the Campos in instead

when we started winning and beat geelong i thought, “well Voss knew what he was doing striving for a steady group of players on each line who can get to play lots of games together. and allow the younger ones to grow in confidence”.
but that sentiment is pretty much the opposite of how i react to Carlton losses in the last two years. seems like there’s a lot of talent brewing in the twos. i’m happy about that. Lord benefitted from all those VFL games i reckon. he’s very been very assured last couple weeks, even the AFL seem to think so which is rare for potential rising star nominee young Blues i think.

Campos need dev time too, IMHO. they get the ball a lot and are plenty decent but not the Daicos brothers yet. lettem improve for one year unless we lose all our wings. Binns was better for building his “selection pressure” over a year or more.

Acres is on thin ice with many of us but Voss seemed to know if he kept playing him he would click into gear at some point. i wouldn’t miss him in current form and if Doc can rack up 37 & 38 D then let him have Acres spot. we’re playing the kids at this point like it or not due to injury and ladder position.

We’ve gone from general soreness to general sadness.

haha. Elijah needs time out. It may not even be for mental illness.

I am loving the fact your boy, and your call a few weeks back, to play HOF has come to realisation... tomorrow.

Nothing sad about that other than he's taking SOS' spot due to injury to SOS. Crisis Creates Opportunity.

Maybe your boy HOK is next to break into the team as a Fwd/Ruck. He's moving so well in the VFL.

We are starting to get players back too, so why the sadness: TDK, Fogarty, Fantasia, and not sure WTF is happening to Acres.

Good idea to give Williams another fortnight to be fully fit on his return, and we know SOS and Boydy will be back next game too... and Cincotta not too far off the pace.

Coniglio has suffered another set back.

GWS missing their 3 Best mids: Callaghan, Kelly Coniglio.

The start of luck going our way despite adding SOS and Boyd tot he injury list.

Expecting Young to play FF allowing Charlie and Harry roam a bit more in the forward line and beyond. Something that has worked for us.

Expecting HOF to mix it up with backline where he has been doing most of his development.

And now offering $10 tickets to try to get some kind of crowd for the worst timeslot of the year. My son refs basketball until 11.30. Gives us bugger all time to get there for the opening bounce.

Reckon we'll see the lowest carlton crowd since Covid tomorrow

It is criminal of the Commission to impose this time slot for any big 4 club if they are serious about maximising revenues and helping the game grow.

Yep we've got our share of injuries but they've got some seriously important players out

No excuses Blues

I was thinking the same. Almost as bad as that 6.10pm Sunday they gave us (also against GWS).

It's a terrible timeslot for a lot of people with Saturday morning sports to attend.

Happy enough that O’Farrell gets a run but, if I’m honest, I would’ve been looking at this game with a bit of trepidation. Hogan, Riccardi, Cadman & the sneaky strong Brown are a formidable group.

He’ll give a good account, but our previous two games were much better looks for his admittedly slight frame.

The other concern I have is that the selected side has got McGovern playing small. I think that’s when we see the worst of Brackets. I think he’ll be sticking to Callum Brown like glue & flapping his arms like a cross chook when Jones, Thomas & Greene give him the run around.

Anyway… win the middle, win the game.

Blues by 68, 70, 72 or 87.

We are a negative 35 minutes away from playing curtain raiser football
