With all the noise on social media regarding our players wanting out, I get a bad feeling after this week, a lot of our boys will be packing their bags and calling in sick for the rest of the year. I think I might need to book an overseas holiday next week.

You are so right Traveller. I walked away for years and got reeled in again. I’m a mess again.

Ps the latest one - trade Cripps for Harley Reid. :banghead:

It’s more than one. Walsh, Harry, Cripps this week and SoS, Kemp, Charlie last week or so but not McGovern (relief).

I presume it will be

Elijah for Kempy
Pitto/Young for Harry. I'd prefer Pitto to crash into Xerri.
Acres for Lord

With Haines playing better, Carroll looking at home and SOS very solid, I wonder if Vossy would throw McGov forward?

Weits/Larkey - Sos/Darling - Haines/Zurhar. The rest of the Roos forwards are that 185cm mark.

If Pitto plays, I guess that allows Vossy to have TDK/Crippa as an option, with Charlie.

Who do the Roos get to pinch hit in the ruck?

Regards Cazzesman

Acres for Doch and I'll be happy...won't happen but right now, every minute at AFL level we give Lord, Carroll et al. the better we will be long term

Probably won't occur, but I wouldn't mind Voss throwing Lemmey a free pass to see how he goes in the big league.
He has been working with Harry over the preseason, and supposedly with better delivery and structure, he might surprise.
Selections will be very interesting this week.

Agree 100%

There's no point hiding behind the "hasn't shown enough at VFL level" line when the seniors have been putrid (and probably feeling comfortable) because very few are getting dropped

FFS. Just give him 1 game...hopefully H comes back the next week

FFS. Evans got 2 games (different possie I know I know)

We've been gifting games to 18-21yo since we were allowed back in the draft in 2005.
We've put kids out to play with the big boys, then when injured, the club gets criticised for throwing them to the Lions too early (Marc Murphy-Copeland).

Because we had committed to our total rebuild we got rid of our best players for picks, and ended with a list of quality kids.
In order to protect them we were compelled to bring in with retreads; hardened AFL bodies.

Can you see the vicious circle there? We're still in it.

Develop the kids in the VFL, and play capable senior bodies in the AFL to win.

The season is only 5 rounds in. Lets see what happens in the next 5 weeks with our game plan and our results before we write the season off as a development year.

The thought of gifting games sickens me.

Throwing Moir in last week when he had no form in the praccy games nor the VFL was stupid.
Yeah, it pleased some of the supporters who thought by throwing in a quality undeveloped kid would help us win, but it didnt. Far from it. 1k, 1HB, 80% GT.
Then those same supporters wonder why they are only given one game. Well, the answer is simple, we are playing to win games in the AFL, not carry passengers.

How many times have we seen posts demanding Voss play Wilson? Lemmey? even 18yo O'Farrell for Young, Gov or Haynes? Plenty.

Carroll and White are kids. They are kids who showed good form in praccy games and VFL. They warranted selection.

Prior to those 2 kids Lord and Lucas Camporeale got a call up because they showed they belonged and coped well playing against senior bodies. ie a bit further developed than other kids.

Kids like Lemmey, Moir, O'Keefe, Charleson, Wilson haven't shown anything convincing to be gifted a game imo.
Kids need to be knocking on the door before they are picked to play AFL.

I'll be surprised if Wilson and Lemmey are on our list in 2026 TBH. We have more kids queuing to come to Carlton in 2026: Gresham, Ison, Dean, Allan, Clark. Not all of them will get to us if we dont discard some kids and NGA's. That's our reality.

Our list problem is we have too many kids and not enough depth players to cover for injury. Doesn't give us any reason why we should be playing kids when we haven't got our game right to win games consistently, and protect the kids in a system they can fit into. We are still tweaking our system. Now is not the time for players to be gifted games who are not playing consistently well in the VFL.

BF has become the biggest melting pot of Carlton fans in the land.
As a result, diverse opinions, abuse, praise, rumours, threats and social influencers will have their views highlighted. The bad ones are hot heads which is a reflection of the social media forums they are influenced by. "I heard..." without giving a source, means its true for some.

Every now and then, and I have to have time, I like to read ex TC posters and a few posters I respect at BF for their views, and flick past the rest because of time constraints and IQ assumptions. I bet the good posters aren't saying any of the above.

TDK doesn't want to leave.

Kennedy didnt want to leave
Dow, Carroll, Setterfield Fisher...none wanted to leave Carlton.
There's plenty of reasons beyond great mateship to want to stay at Carlton.

In fact, quite the opposite, we have players wanting to come to Carlton.
Houston was the only one you know of because it was public and decision made he was going.
We have running mids who want to play next to Cripps, play at The G, Finals bound...its only 5 rounds down.

On the other hand, we have contracts of big name players expiring in the next 2 years, TDK, Walsh, Williams, Doc, Silvagni, Fantasia, Kemp, Saad, Cowan Gov, Haynes, Hollands boys, and we are all ears for the offers. Ball is in our court.

By round 10, we could be 5-5, or even 4-6, and the season back in our hands as we steady the ship and find our rhythm.

Season is only starting ... McKay, Newman, Cowan, Fantasia, Boyd and Cincotta will add skill speed and class when ready, as well as pressure on spots, and Ben and Lucas will develop press their case too.

I don't even bother reading BF anymore.
Any decent news will get to TC anyway and usually without all the drama and fanfare.

Its a hard read.

I made a commitment many years ago...no social media...till 2002...then decided one forum only....TC it was. That's enough. Plenty of differing opinions here said quite succinctly. flower don't last long here either. I remember BV sorting them out pretty quick over the years.

Its been 6 weeks since he played in the last quarter in the GWS praccy game and around the time Elijah requested personal leave.

He's been back training with the lads for 3 weeks now, and played a VFL game a couple weeks back.

Well.....his hand is up for selection in the AFL team to face North this Friday.

Timely and Great news.

Bondi thank goodness for your positive posts. I have been guilty of reading BF too and it’s very depressing. Everyone wanting to leave now. Rebuilding etc.

I must admit I have had a look in recent weeks and was surprised to see some of the rumours.
There are some posters who have good mail so hopefully all of these rumours have no truth to them.

The say "where's there's smoke there's fire", but you can be deceived by the reaction of chemical combustion that goes on, which appears as smoke.

This is how good teams ween their kids into the ones. With a stable and deep midfield group. A wqell oiled midfield group; tough and quick. At the top of the ladder, and a huge HOME game for added support and excitement.

Quote:
Brisbane Lions’ academy graduate Sam Marshall will make his debut against Collingwood on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old midfielder was told on Wednesday by senior coach Chris Fagan he would be taking on the Magpies in front of a sell-out Gabba crowd.

Marshall was best on ground in the Coates Talent League grand final for Sandringham Dragons last year with 28 touches and two goals.

The ballwinner, who was taken with pick 25,

There's no hoping the kid will make it. The kid has proven to excel, let alone handle bigger bodies and greater speed. He's 19yo but he has runs on the board all preseason and in the reserves.

Yes and their only marquee game for the year as well. Plus they get Wardlaw back. Classic scenario.
