On the other hand, my 7yr old is unflappingly confident and predicts that we’ll win 109-95.

I'm so traumatised - I keep checking the media to find out which of our players has discovered an injury overnight and out for the next month!
I know. I'm broken.
PS. I'll keep doing this until game time....
Every time our social media accounts post a picture of a single player, my heart skips a beat and I can't scroll down quick enough.

Is it silly to consider chucking Ben Crocker into the forward line and moving silvagni down back?
Yes because Crocker isn't on our list.
So very silly :-)

If we can get the pressure back around the ball our defence can stand up. I watched the Essendon*/Saints game Friday night and becuase of the pressure they put on around the ground their smaller defence did extremely well.

We can do the same

I think we will win this one! More of a gut feeling than anything else.

I have a horrible memory of our playing Freo at Docklands and the score at halftime was something like 70 to 7 :banghead: .

I took my kid to that for one of his first Carlton games :banghead:

I was at that match too, with my son in law and two grandsons. I well remember grandson no 1 saying "can we leave before they're 100 points down?" Damn near broke my heart.

We need to keep this move in reserve for when Kemp and Young both get injured.

I’m a fan of Kennedy, but 60% TOG suggests he’s carrying an injury. I’m wondering if it would be better to rest him for a week so he can get over his niggles and give Setterfield/Dow/Carroll an opportunity? I guess the counter-argument is that 60% of Kennedy is better than 80% of the alternatives.

that’s the only question the MC asks. is it worth it. the other down side of playing an injured player is that it retards their recovery. and risks further injury. Kennedy has been a great player for the first half of the season for us. just want to see him back to that form.

i like what Jack Martin does a lot. but i don’t see him doing that much of it on the replays. i know you can’t really tell without being at the game what role someone is playing for the team, but does he do enough? i know forwards dépend of the ball being delivered to them and he’s not the go to marking receiver. i might be out of line.

is there anybody in the 2s who’d be worth considering as a HF to give Jack a chance to freshen up with a run against lesser opponents? Probably not. not much depth for players who can play tall up front or down back really.

Ive been thinking about this post since I read it yesterday

I've only watched Carlton seniors live 3 times this year.
Everytime I watched Martin closely I was amazed at how much running he does.
Its all effective: he plugs holes, takes his man out of the corridor, supports in the backline

On TV, you see none of that, and I end up asking for more from Martin.

MC know, and that's all that counts.

To answer your question HONEY.

Honey should be selected to replace Martin or someone else. This kid is an AFL footballer.

thanks for those observations. i’m not surprised to hear that. when Martin is on screen he’s always working hard, not just standing around ball watching. just seems like the play goes past him sometimes. he’s probably doing things i don’t even see when they’re on the screen in front of me :-)

i watched the first half of the twos. one good thing about those telecasts is they keep the wide shot so you see more players moving around the play. Honey made some very nice moves and that ?second goal marking while running into the forward arc was sweet as.

mirkov looked alright against a 203 luke sweet.

Am I right in saying the Fockers don't have a lot of tall forwards?

Lobb
Tabenar

Plus Fyfe and Logue

Certainly enough to stretch us at the moment.

No idea where they are in terms of injury but Taberner is 199cm. Lobb over 200cm.
They may then try to stretch us further by playing either Jye Amiss or Josh Treacy both 195cm+.

Taberner came back from injury last week in the wafl (kicked 3)
Treacy and Amiss are both out long term
