Wtf is the obsession with kj?
Casbault is a second rate player and we have a potential A grader in the VFL so why not give him a go. Can he do much worse the Levi?
Casboult wasn't great today but has been very good the previous month so stupid to drop him.
The idea KJ is a potential a grader is speculative at the extreme
He's not even b grade
Based on what evidence? 1 game
Go and look at Ratten's first 30-40 games
Simmo's first 10 games, in particular his first 3
I am NOT suggesting that KJ is in that bracket. I'm merely saying that sometimes you have to take a chance on some potential...THEN make an informed decision
Jack Watts is a perfect example
Please add up all the games that other b-c graders like Jones, Thomas, Casboult, White, Rowe, Buckley, Graham, Boekhorst, Sumner, Whiley et al have played under Bolton
Then divide that number by the number of players above. This will give you an average number of games played by b-c graders who most likely will not be at cfc by the end of the year or next year
All I ask is that KJ is afforded the same opportunity...nothing more, nothing less
Apologies for putting some rational thought into my obvious irrational obsession with KJ
I know that this has been said to death, and I'm not a club insider and have no inside knowledge at all....but it is widely reported that he just doesn't give his all. I'd have to say that all the players you listed above have busted their arses despite not having the same raw talent or ability. I imagine this is rated so highly by the match committee, that he is not being selected. It is most likely that they are prepared to let him go at the end of the year if he doesn't realise that he needs to apply himself desperately at every contest without exception. They have continued to say that KJ is aware of what he needs to do to get selected, so the ball is in his court.
I know you will rattle off a list of players that have all got games that probably shouldn't have at times, and I agree with this too. The reality, though, is that we will either:
- put games into a laconic type who will be good at times, but mostly inconsistent
- will delist him and clear the way for an enthusiastic kid who will bust his gut (because that's who we pick now!!!)
- that KJ will do what is being asked and understand it is not negotiable and become the star many thought he would be
This being said, I actually think they will play him this week. Weiters is down, White was down, and they have acknowledged KJ's performance on the CFC website. I suspect if they rest Weiters, then KJ will come in for him. Otherwise, they will drop White, bring in KJ, and swing Weiters down back. If KJ isn't working up fwd, they can swing him back, and Weiters up fwd. Macreadie could even get a look in although we would be too tall down back.
I've appreciated almost everything the club has done since the rebuild, and have developed a surprising trust for Bolts and Co. If they choose not to play KJ this year, and he is delisted, I trust they know what they are doing, and I won't lose a minutes sleep. Most club insiders agree, without elaborating, that he won't play for us. I hope this is not the case, however, and that we see KJ play and show us all that he will be a star.
