Not sure it's got anything to do with senior players just at the moment.

Watch the second half of the third quarter again. It's the senior players who had the lapse. Still happy with the overall team effort.

Pretty sure we fell off across the board.

More kids means more minutes for senior players and they work harder. When the newbies drop away, as they do, there's too many holes.

Spoiler

Goldie are pretty good. They tore the Hawks to shreds last week. So,to be competative with 'em for three quarters aint bad. But,same old problem. Not nearly enough blokes getting there hands on the pill between the arcs. These kids are showing good signs but they need to get a lot more of the pill. And dont blame Sammy,The Doormat couldnt have stopped Lynch.Cant believe the criticism of Levi who battled hard all night.Agree with Cazz re The Doc.Uncanny reader of play.Doc is what i am talking about regarding knowing where to go to get a kick. Two good games in a row by SOJ.Developing nicely. And for effs sake, get Palmer in there to help our midfielders. They desperately need another true midfielder in there to shoulder some of the burden.Good debut young Fish.He is so small he is more of a sardine really.Another kid with guts to burn.

Honestly, don't know what else I should have expected when we play an overly tall team against a team full of fast paced players. They cut us open starting with Adam Saad, I dont think anyone laid a finger on him all night.

Also, can someone explain why people were booing Ablett?
He's one of the greats of the game and who knows if we will see him play again live.

He's a mercenary who made a big song and dance about going to GC because of family issues 6 years ago, now cites family issues when he wants to return to Geel. And now, he says he may play on at the GCS next year (my guess, and most likely wrong, but makes me feel good) is that Gee aren't prepared to pay half or whatever of his contract and so to keep his massive pay packet, he is forced to stay

A once in a life time player YES
A money grabbing mercenary YES

If it's not the senior players then it's the coaching staff. Same script has been played out ad nausea for 10 years. Shoot - my 13 year old is sometimes moved into the middle when the opposition has a run-on and he KNOWS he has one job, ONE job.

Great fun watching that 1st half in Bejing.
No problems streaming at my Hotel.

That was the future at play.
Bad kicking for goal will be fixed from the experience.
Charlie and Weiters will learn from that.
How good is Fisher...say no more. He's a beauty.

Levi's best game since Pies game 4 years ago.
Week 4 and Thomas is still a liability. Doesn't add value to team.
He's actually disruptive which is cancerous coming from a senior player.

Backline is ok. The GC forwards were given service on a platter.
Lynch is a great mark and kick for goal. His goals were not fault of backline IMO.
Their midfield got on top of us. Why did they win so much easier ball from the centre bounce?
Kreuzer was mauled by GC rucks. Witts! FMD. They jumped over him and gave good service to their mids. Kreuzer tried hard and did well at ground level but was our weakness in the centre square ruck.
Our mids got nothing their favour and when he had positional advantage he knocked it back and there they were...2 GC mids and off they went. 6 in a row ala Saints last year with Gorringe in the ruck.

Murphy was heavily tagged out by Hall. Should've got a few frees too.
Weitering was not going to fix the backline the way the ball was coming in.
Weitering was injured as was Cripps. That's footy, not an age thing. Corkies happen.
Would like some cover for Cripps, and maybe some rest. He played under duress.

Do not underestimate the seasoned hand picked elite Gold Coast list. They are coming into their prime.
We are playing kids. We have to accept and endure that as well as appreciate the end result.

No doubt we played sore from last weekend.
No doubt we will learn and get better.
No doubt our kids will continue to grow.
No doubt we need Hall Saad like speed in midfield.
No doubt Thomas is a liability.
No doubt we keep playing the kids.
No doubt Bolts is on the right track.

Loved Casboults game.
Loved Wrights game.
Docherty was my best.

I love Carlton.

Comments around Cripps and Weitts apparent injuries shouldn't ignore Bolt's mantra "get comfortable being uncomfortable" Both players are fully competitive beasts and Bolts is pushing them to deal with certain amount of pain while playing.

Oversimplifying it.

From memory, SPS and Pickett had 4 disposals between them after half time. Yes it's not their responsibility but lumping it on the senior players is a bit unfair.

Agree. We had sore bodies, young kids...10 of them...and sure a couple of seniors who have question marks and Thomas came after Ratten.

Really get worried for Cripps and Weitering, I hope we don't ruin them. Cripps appears to be playing injured. Weitering looks sore, is getting knocked around playing up forward. It's about the process at the moment not so much about winning. They are still kids, both need to be carefully managed.

Then there's Thomas, demands the ball out wide then turns the ball over. Can't kick, can't tackle, please, please no more. He's the past, play a kid (any kid) before him. If he plays enough games to be on our list next year it's an indictment on the club.

Play a kid, or a veteran , or someone in between those stages. Anyone but Daisy. It's not his fault his body has failed him, but it has and he can't impact the game positively any more, not enough to outweigh his negative influences. If you want experience play Palmer and /or Armfield. Or play one of the kids, or one of the guys we will need to make a decision on at the end of the year. Any of them would give you more than Daisy.

Dale Thomas, thanks for your service and goodbye.

Just watched a replay of the first half again...still can not see where that 3rd quarter came from from either side.

We should have been 4 goals in front...

But I like what I saw up to that point, and in context with the previous three rounds, we are heading in the right direction with the right players.
