Unfortunately I think Thomas will play......

My prediction against the tigers,
Simpson Weitering Plowman
Docherty Rowe Thomas
Gibbs Cripps Kerridge
Charlie McKay SPS
SOJ Casboult Wright
Kreuzer Murphy Edward
From; Cuningham Fisher Marchbank Boekhorst.

Byrne is a big loss..
Palmer comes in after suspension..
Will Sheehan come in??
Pickett will add more class, hope he can make it...
Maybe Sumner or Armfield replaces Boekhorst??
Polson, Williamson and Macreadie, hearing great things about these boys..
Just my thoughts

I'd be v surprised if McKay or Fisher is ready Round 1. McKay will need more development time and Fisher will need to prove himself in the VFL (unless he goes beserk in the pre-season comp). I suspect White for McKay and one of Armfield/Sumner/Lamb will replace Fisher.

And yes, Palmer will be in that team.
Competition for three spots from: Cunningham, Boekhorst, Palmer, Lamb, Sumner, Armfield, Fisher.
My money is on: Palmer, Boekhorst & Sumner.

I wouldn't discount Cuningham - he showed some great promise at the end of last season

Look ... I am not sure how his stats read ... but I didn't see a lot of promise in Cunningham at the end of the season ... his performance seemed a bit overrated IMO at the time.

Having said that ... I have seen other footage of him and he does look a talent.

Lets hope he has a big year.

Hi BBW thought he was ok and showed promise Cunningham - really need plauyers of his ilk to come on - as suggested late dec or so met someone who knows him and family reckons he is a ripper kid who will leave no stoneunturned in his efforts to make it as a footballer

As for Rhys Palmer one of the biggest critics of getting him(hello Rexy) but if he takes out Dusty (legitimately) in the first game protects murph cripps and other on-ballers as well as kicks a few goals during the season he will have me at hello

Fair enough regarding Cunningham. I hope he steps up.

IIRC Palmer is suspended for round 1 against Richmond for his hit in the 2016 Prelim Final

No to Kerridge, don't care who else they pick.

I would pick Graham ahead of Palmer.

That's interesting. Why? I'm interested.

I have heard a lot of good things about Palmers preseason but heard nothing to suggest Graham belongs in the 22.

I'm leaning towards a smaller line up this game.

Rowe may be the versatile tall (Defence, Forward and Ruck) on the bench, with young Silvagni starting in the VFL unless he steps up the next two games.

Just my opinion.

I don't rate Palmer (28 y.o).

Graham (22 y.o.) - no world beater himself - has averaged more possessions and tackles over the past couple of seasons.

I know a lot of people said we played loose on Saturday and ahead of the play, but playing with a 5 man defence would certainly be different.
