Pathetic, gutless and shit skills from the team as a whole.
They couldn't beat that rabble even when they couldn't get a touch of the football.
Our foot skills are so shit in front of goal we are just throwing opportunities away and even at the death when cool heads were needed and a bit of system, they just kept doing what has lost them games every week and bombed it long.

Anybody who thinks that last quarter counts for anything is delusional. We are in serious trouble and any amount of love and player involvement from the coach can't make a shit game plan look good. It needs a massive overhaul, especially since it is defence based. Any team defence that lets Brisbane score 7 in a quarter is doing something very wrong.

They waited almost three quarters to run the ball. Buckley first and then Simpson, Touhy and Boekhurst but it was too little too late. When they start off like that they are a different team. Why Bolton has them playing kick and mark/turnover football amazes me. I watched the Dogs and Collingwood last night and we are a mile behind both of them in the style of football we play.

Kreuzer is shot.
3 kicks, two ineffective
One mark
Five frees against
One dropped mark that led to a goal.
Not many handballs I can remember
A few hitouts against a basketball player.
Worst game he has played for us for the year. Maybe longer. Get rid of him. Tell everybody he is injured to save face.
Weitering looks injured in the trunk.
Cripps is going to end up crippled.

I am not happy with any team aspect of that debacle. A few individual plusses and that's it.
Melbourne could well beat us by 60 points next week.

and you can add daisy Thomas to that

kruser and Thomas need to go

and the more games they play for us , the less amount of time is spent on our kids coming thru and developing

We simply are a product of our past and today we had 8 to 10 players who won't be there or won't be getting a gamein a couple of years.
We have recruited hi year
Plowman
Sumner
Phillips
Gorringe
Kerridge
Lamb
Wright
This year
Clearly the list was so poor that to stem the bleeding they recruited bodies that had a few pre sasons under their belt
If we had gone completely with youth we would get flogged every week
All these blokes probably wouldn't get a game in a premiership team except maybe for Phillips because he is a ruckman having his first real decent crack at it
Ruckman take longer to mature

Yes there have been some absolute howlers we are paying the price for
Thomas
Jones
Kreuzer
Jaksch
Whiley
Tutt
White
Dick

Eventually these guys will be gone. That's about a third of our list
Add Simpson Armfield maybe Gibbs an Murphy with age

The list is ever changing but at least we are competitive compared to last year
We must and I mean must now recruit young talent
If we recruit kids in the next 3 to 4 years and have a 50% strike rate we will be back

Any more recruiting of recycled garbage would be the dumbest decision on the planet
Silvangi
Curnow C
Weitering
Cripps
Give me hope we can get back up there

We have made significant progress from the pits of last year

It will take about 3 to 4 years at the earliest before we are a serious finals side
But only if Silvangi can recruit good kids
That's the key otherwise we are [REDACTED] for the next decade

great call and we have a long way to go and unfortunately Silvangi had to recruit some depth players as we had none , re our previous draft strategy , but I disagree about Plowman he will be a player and he just had bad day today

There are some cynical members of my family who have implied that the timing of my visit to Queensland to belatedly celebrate my mothers birthday was influenced by the fixturing of this match.
I think today's performance has categorically rebutted those cynics.

Stupid rhetorical question - why can't the rest of our forwards lead towards the ball like Jack and create space between themselves and their defender?

This. I don't know how many times I screamed at the telly as a pack of players milled around about 20 meters out from goal (wife was wise enough to go out for the afternoon) "for god sake lead up and open up the forward line". Cas does lead every once in awhile... to the boundary.

Phillips gets 5 touch's and is going backwards quickly! Dropped before Kreuzer!!

Chestmark Jones can go and not come back and MM 700million dollar man Thomas.

Jones provides a contest, can't play both him and Casboult though. And his kicking! Misses a sitter in the second, then marks in the centre of the ground, kicks into the player on the mark, goal to Lions. Plus that floating up and under mongrel late in the last into the forward line, who'd be a forward at Carlton

It is obvious, apart from a few individuals, we are cooked, switched off, had enough, don't GAF!

Why should we try? For TalkingCarlton.com? We are off with the fairies.

Phillips shows more in hes 5 touches than kruser does the whole game

Kruser has no presence at all

Phillips will play better when Kruser is not in the side

His awful mistake each week is a psychological stake in the heart of the other 21 players. We can not progress while he is best 22

Not sure what you were all thinking was going to miraculously happen this year. Seriously we are in rebuild and I would hazard to guess that a few players today may not be with us next year. If you are looking for a quick fix then Mick Martyn sends his love.

I was not expecting to be 7 goals down at half time to the worst team in the comp

Most people had us winning the spoon so not sure why we are shocked. We have been up and down. I hate losing but I'm a realist. If we are still dishing this up in 2 years time then I'll be pissed off. Year one of a rebuild will have up and down moments.

Couldn't agree more

Absolute dud of a player

Why we persist with these VFL standard players is beyond me

Yes, way better. Last year Cassboult was one of the few things that went ok in a shit year. Henderson, as useless as he was, took a man or two, making it alot easier for Casboult and Everitt and hence were able to score. With Jones there it's not surprising Casboult and SOS (like Everitt last year) were able to impact, with less defenders around them, and hit the scoreboard. It was the same when our winning run started this year. What possessed our coaching staff to go back to a structure from the first 4 rounds, where we had just one key forward and struggled to score. They should be kicked fair and square in the arse for that.

You've sort of got to feel sorry for the crew cut mofo. Takes massive grab, taken off him. Then goes chesty bonds for the rest of the game when he could have been a hero...

I dont really give a shit anymore , we are awful to watch. I went out today instead.

Even footy in general recently is an average spectacle and pales in comparison to the olympics.

I'm going to be more upset when the olympics finishes than when the footy season does.

I know i am supposed to be excited for the trade period and the draft and have renewed hope etc etc but how long have we been supposed to be excited about this? year after year of hope and year after year of soul crushing garbage.

meh.

Agreed. I do feel sorry for him. He's been kicking pretty straight in the VFL. In the top 1 or 2 Northern Blues goal kickers. Has kicked 8.5 in the AFL before today's game. I hope they play him for the final two rounds.

The club is selling hope and only false hope.
The board thought they dodged a bullet by sacking their saviour malthouse but nothing has changed infact we are arguably worse with our longest losing streak 9 straight in 10 years. Ive said since day 1 we have to wipe out the pratt mathieson duopoly.

The board that approved thomas should be removed

Exactly. No faith at all we will get it right this time either. Nor does the system allow it.

How many teams have won the flag in last 10 years and reb9in same period. Its bullshit. Just a glorified marketing competition.
