Yes, we could do without one ruckmen but at least when we picked two key forwards last time, even with 2 rucks, we started our winning run, then improving out of sight when Phillips got injured. At least poor old Casboult has some help and can now get further up the ground taking some defenders with him. Should help open up the 50 more.
Are you sure we improved "out of sight"?
Prior to injury, with Philips we
WON v Freo and
WON v Essendon* (when Philips kicked the winning goal)
Post inury to Philips, we replaced him with Gorringe and we
WON v Coll,
WON v Port,
Thrashed by NM,
WON v Geel.
Then Philips returned to the team and we
WON v Brisbane by our biggest margin of the year.
I think you are starting to exaggerate the situation to make your point stick.
I think our wins have more to do with how the team was going, the momentum and spirit generated by the whole, moreson than the 2 rucks imo.
I don't buy your hypothesis jim about the 2 rucks, nor jimmae's about Kreuzer.
Personally I think you take out too much from the one good game Kreuzer played in that period against Geelong.
Kreuzer's output doubles when he is the lone ruckman, but they are still low numbers other than the Geelong game.
Kreuzer is no standout imo, and no way can he ruck for 4 quarters, nor can Philips.
Rowe needs to man up the KPF beasts and Casboult is our No. 1, and at times the only KPF albeit playing under an injury cloud.
There's good reason why Bolton, like other teams, play 2 ruckmen. You have to understand why and accept that.
I too would like to see 2 KPF's in the Carlton forwardline: Josh Kennedy and Josh Jenkins would be nice.
