The problem is that players like Whiley, Tutt and Jacksh have been in and out of the side so much that they haven't had a chance to pick up the pace of the game. Watson fits that category too. Every time Watson is picked he can't make a mistake. When he does, even he looks demoralised.

I can't read too much into the game as it really was poor standard with little defensive pressure especially in the first half. Ball use was poor.

Positives were Kruezer, Cripps & Buckley and seeing players give an effort. Prefer that to a Yarran or Henderson jogging around. Everitt needs a kick in the arse as he really picks and chooses when to go.

I thought it was a great chance for Jaksch, Menzel, Whiley & Dick to step up and show something against a weak opposition and they were mostly disappointing. Dick & Tutt aren't anywhere near AFL standard. Boekhurst looks good but needs to get fit.

On a side note Jeremy Howe was doing his best Henderson impression out there. Looks like he is leaving the Demons based on that effort.

I thought Jaksch did quite well. Whiley and Dick are battlers and their output was about what you would expect.

Whiley????
You have to be kidding!!!
The kid was EVERYWHERE today, at just about all cntests, in and under handballs, making space, tapping to someone in a better position, jumping 3rd man.
This kid will be a gun, yes I said 'gun' in about 3-4 years time.
There is a little bit Fyffe in him.
Ridicule me till your heart's content. Watch him over the next few years (at Carlton)

The way he got the ball and worked his way into each contest was great. Many of his disposals were poor options that put teammates under pressure but improved decision making will hopefully come with games. I like his size and ability to keep his arms free. Good signs.

I found myself just begging and hoping and willing for good things from Jaksch but he did very little to impress. I think he will get there next year. Happy to have him.

Tutt however is just horrible. Terrible things happen every time he touches it and sadly.....he's very good at finding it :banghead:

One thing that really stood out today was Cripps standing up in the tackle and getting his arms free so he can dish off with a handball. Once he builds a tank and straightens up his kicking he's going to be very hard to stop.

I reckon he's the kind of player who needs his 50 games before he's comfortable.

I'm a Whiley fan. Think he could be okay just thought he had a chance to stand up today. Worked hard but made some absolute clangers as well. I agree he needs more experience. He will need to step up next two weeks with Murphy missing. Could be good for him.

Watch his second half...forget the opposition. He just wants to get his hands on the ball and be involved. I reckon we've got ourselves a beauty!!

I will watch the replay later but I agree. I think he will be one of those hard working mids every side needs.

Totally agree about Watson.
As I've said before, think about all the other duds who've been gifted 40-60 games for this club.
I'd be happy to give Watson 10 consecutive games before deciding. He's always been the whipping boy
I don't reckon he's played 3 consecutive games in the firsts

Especially when we are so devoid of marking options.

Good luck to him, I hope he stays on the list

Menzel was awful today. Little or no pace, no tank, little creativity.

Not sure how the club has allowed him to slip that far behind

Agree. What's going on? Does he need the season to be 10 games long? I think his body may find it hard to sustain a 23 round season

How good was Watto's chase on the wing to force a poor kick! He was Turbo Watto.

I thought it was his best game for a while. Which probably shows how far back he's gone.

Gave genuine effort and if he's fit I'm a Zulu.

His shoulder was banged up early and it was obvious he had little mobility with it. Just glad he stuck out tbh.

AGAIN! Somebody on here (I forget who) pointed out to me recently how he ends up in the hands of the trainers almost every single game.

Great to have a win under any circumstances
Don't care Melbourne were ordinary great to have a win with a side of players that 12 of them had 50 or less games
Melbourne more experienced and better team
Great to get a win for a young team with Cripps Whiley Bokehurst Jaksch
Great effort when Jamo Murphy and Kreuzer injured at the end and we held on
Buckley and Bell both good
I thought bokehorst Whitley and Jaksch all showed promise
BB efforts in last quarter excellent -pass to Cripps for goal in last excellent
Thought Whitley did a lot of tough work in the clearances -needs more time but will be ok
Thought Jaksch played well given when Rowe rucked in went down back line and when Rowe in back line he went to CHF
Watson should get another contact for a year for insurance given the dearth of talks and Henderson walking out
Casboult would have been handy today as well
Walker was good up forward and needs to stay there

Great game by Kreuzer thought touhy was good

Thought Garlett was very poor and was pleased to see that

Went to the game and enjoyed the win despite the terrible skills.
Loved Kreuzer's and Cripps' games.
Good to see Walker moving well and kicking some goals.
Garlett was quiet and Hogan was well held by Jamo.
Its such a good feeling after a win.
