Good:
- better effort from the playing group.
- defensively it appeared we structured up a little better. Not as many occasions where we got opened up done the middle, which is pleasing.
- a better forward structure too I thought. Less bombed kicks straight to the opposition, although there were still a few of them.
- a more attacking mindset with some more quick play-on footy.
- cripps. Smart player.
- Docherty playing well again.
- buckley impacted on the game.
- Casboult kicked better and rucked better too I reckon.

Bad:
- a lot of positives and we still were 10 goals behind them.
- same issues with an inability to spread and run at an AFL standard.
- jones went missing again.
- Thomas tires quickly (he started very well, but was quiet later on)
- we need a second key defender, coz white can't keep getting man-handled every week.
- Menzel quiet.

Reserve judgement:
- graham. 14 disposals isn't great. He worked hard, would benefit from more talent and size around him. Play him a few more weeks.
- barker. Some positive signs, but let's see what he can do with more than 2 days prep.

Rowe was good.

Glad he's back and it makes a huge difference when there's sme pressure up field. In fact up field pressure is more important than the defender .

Just back from the game.

Henderson underdone and also continually outnumbered 2 to 1, midfield delivery very poor generally.

Yarran seemed a bit selfish and played the man rather than the ball. If he hadn't been injured and likely to miss next week then I would have dropped him.

Cripps the standout for me. Special mention to Everitt. Bell and Armfield tried hard.

Liam Jones was deplorable. What is it with his continued attempts to mark on the chest when he should be sticking the dukes out? It's ghastly to watch.

Lack of run clearly visible, always seemed flat footed. When we did run, often there were too many running into the same space as well.

Effort was definitely there, apart from Yarran who I thought played dishonestly.

I'm just laughing at the cavalcade of stars we have drafted in the second round over the past 10 years, they really support all those rookies that balance out our well rounded list.

My favourite was overlooking Talia in first round for Lucas. Good times

Pros:

Cripps - We have a future A grader here.
Armfield - Handled the slippery ball and played well.
Bell - Another good game.
Simpson - Set a standard early with repeated courageous plays.
Casboult - Competed well and finished well with his set shots.
Buckley - We looked a bit more dangerous forward when he came on. Needs to play a full game next week preferably forward of centre.
Graham - Finally a full game for him - and against a top 4 side. May yet prove to be a dud but was far from our worst and worth more games IMO.

Cons:

Yarran ankle not good. The next few weeks decide whether he stays or not. I see very big upside for Yarran in the right environment. Hope he stays.
Menzel knee. He was very lively in the middle early and helped give us a good start although we failed to capitalise on the scoreboard. Faded after that. The knee is a worry.
Thomas looks like a normally classy player carrying too many injuries.
Tutt struggling with the pace and ferocity of the game at this level - but he's not R Caruso.

All things considered 60 points not such a disgrace. Insert three A graders into the side and some improved finishing and this would have been a lot closer. Sadly we don't have three A graders in reserve - yet.

Not sure I like the comments from Barker and Malthouse previously that they are just looking for improvement, not looking at the scoreboard, our intensity was better, blah blah blah...

This is AFL not Auskick, the score matters and intensity & effort should be a given. Accepting losses is hard to fathom at this level. Yeah we weren't expected to win & 10 goals was better than most thought but you don't come out stating it was never about the scoreboard it's stupid.

Graham had the fumbles and didn't rack them up but give him a month straight before crucifying him. Jones has played 8 or so games and avg 7 touches. Graham wasn't our worst.

Tutt & jones were very poor. Menzel but injured.
Carazzo adds nothing.
Hendo looks frustrated as a fwd. White is not a KPP.

Cripps is a gun.

Bell was good but was fumbly.

Tackles were a lot better.

Did we miss Murphy Gibbs or Judd? If so where? Tackle count?

Thing is, clubs genuinely feel that way. As in I know of one current coaching panel who don't care about wins or losses right now. All they are focused on is building a certain mentality (and resultant behaviour). They're not looking at the scoreboard at all. It was hard for me to get my head around, but there you go.

I missed the Murphy Gibbs reason for us losing tonight.

I just love Cripps.

Soon Kreuz in for Jones and he's never to return. Pay him out.

Tom Bell very good. Looks strong. Had a few handling errors.
Docherty is ...well plays ike a quick strong and brazen Swans player. Very good.
Everitt was good in the air but needs to put a foot on the accelerator. Lazy at times.
Curnow must have had more than 20 possessions. A few Dumb disposals.
Wood has a go. Strong body. Can be smarter and play with more energy.
Cripps sparked up and got good disposals and created opportunity for other mids.

Kreuzer won't help us much up forward though. Ruck only. Having said that still be alot better there than Jones.
