If we come last it opens up taking a good player (Aish) in the pre season draft. We could probably do it coming second last as well as long as GC finish last. Lots to happen before then but when you come bottom 2 you have to use the pre season draft as a weapon.

If we do get the first pick how will that impact our 2 potentail FS candidates? Say for instance SOS&S nominates the Blues and another club chimes in with thier first round pick for him. Does that mean we need to use pick 1 on SOS&S? Same goes for Rice.

No; the bidding system is live, and uses the next available picks to pay for the points total.

Check out TalkingRecruitment to see how certain scenarios pan out if they're rated as high 2nd round draft picks, which seems to be their likely maximum value at this stage.

Anyone that wants the spoon is a loser. Sad to see so many losers on this site. No pride.

Getting the number one pick doesn't mean you will get the best player in the draft. Scully, Jack Watts, Kruze , Gibbs, Murphy. I don't think any of those players are the best in their class. It is a stupid thought process. 2 out of 31 nba lottery drafts has the number 1 pick won a title with the team he was drafted to. They left or are no good.

All about a winning culture. Fresh start. New coach. Got rid of the dead beat coach we had. You actually saw some life in the players last week and it looked positive without judd, murphy, gibbs, kruzer, jamison. If we go to a run and carry game style down the corridor, we will have some positive results.

It depends, does it not? Personally, I've never aspired to this balls before brains attitude. The best players are the best players regardless of where we get them from or the bullish intent of any club or its supporters.

So which pick do we need to make sure we get the best player in the class? If pick one doesn't produce the best player, perhaps the best player will be found at pick 3 or pick 6?

Get pick 1, and consider a trade arrangement that nets two high picks. Sure up your bets. Happy to take pick one if it will hasten our rise.

Cant hang around the bottom of the ladder for ever..

Getting a good pick is only part 1 in a long term process. Player development and team culture play just as an important role when getting a young hopeful to the club.

I am certainly not looking forward to another wooden spoon. Good pick or not. We need to do everything we can to improve the playing group we already have. Whom I believe are not as bad as it appears.

Might be inevitable but in case we are any danger of winning a game or 2, it would be time to:

Pick 1..........> Straight Swap for Aish

Aish = The next Big thing to arrive at Carlton. A True Savior with more talent and potential than JUDD. Worth giving up our Top Pick!!

Disagree.

We will finish either last or second last. Wietering or Schache, both exceptional pick ups.

Play to win, start developing a positive culture within our modest core of youngsters.

Gold Coast may even wish to trade with us for pick 1. A player and a swap of picks, not completely out of the question.

Tanking is cheating on every level and has proven to be poison.

If we get pick one, It might be the percentage thing to turn it into two highly regarded draft prospects. Or an A grader and a prospect.

You know..... to help with the quick fix..
