4.10 start end of February could be a very warm start for the boys. Can't see why they wouldn't make it a night game. The lights are good enough at Rushton Park for Wafl matches and it is just a practice match after all.

Playing the eagles over there in preseason and then again in Rd 2? Makes sense.

I'd love to see them stay a while and do their community camp in the West. Don't play again until 15th March and they are well supported over here so could easily get numbers to match a regional Victorian venue for any function. Plenty of potential training bases and get a decent beach session in rather than Port Philip Bay!

In fact my reply to Trigg suggested we request an interstate fixture on a Friday night every year the week before we have a bye. Stay the weekend and make a real genuine attempt to build relationships with interstate members and attract new members. A four year rotation through Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth so that it becomes an "Olympic" like event in each city.

Play Hawks twice in the last 7 weeks

:screwy:

I don't see a really tough run of more than 2 games at any stage like we had in recent years....worst probably Freo, Kangas, Hawks in rounds 16-18

2 games in Perth + a NAB game, 2 in Sydney, 1 at Gabba, 1 in NZ but 0 in Adelaide where Carlton are easily the most supported side outside of the Crows and Port.

Awesome.

I'd give us far more chance of bagging some points in Perth than Adelaide

Damn the AFL and their family friendly return to Saturday afternoon games...I'm getting married on one of those days!

I've a slight concern that membership packages have gone up - one quite considerably - but Victorian members will receive access to one less game than last year.

I'd hoped that the NZ trip would count as one of our 5 interstate fixtures, but alas it's a relocated victorian one.

Paying more for less.

Weddings should be banned during the footy season.

Then again, I got married during the 1998 Boxing Day test.

We lost to England just an hour or so before the ceremony.

So, 14 years later, why was I so surprised?

Congrats!!!

I'll ask again, why the hell are we traveling to WA in Feb when we have two trips over there during the season? Makes no sense. It should be another Victorian team who only travels there once.

Outside of that, not too much to complain about really. The most consecutive 6 day breaks we have is two, which is ok. same for the most number of consecutive Etihad games. So it seems to me to be reasonably player friendly.

North will be upset they don't get their annual grand final against us on a Friday night.

Once again annoying our home game against the Hawks is at Etihad, yet we have home MCG games against both Adelaide teams and Melbourne.

All in all though, it's ok.

Collingwood, Brisbane, GWS, Hawthorn and Richmond twice.

We only play Essendon* once, probably right before half their team is banned!

Eh, we knew it was a risk booking a Saturday in footy season, so only mildly annoyed.

Just noticed we go to Perth and NZ in the first 4 weeks. That seems stupid and avoidable.

So the Blues play the following teams twice

Brisbane - a strong team on the rise with AFL funding assistance
GWS - which Carlton lost to last year
Collingwood
Richmond
Hawthorn

Of the double ups would have preferred two matches against Melbourne and St Kilda. Brisbane and GWS will be tough.
Playing Collingwood and Richmond twice makes sense.
The Hawthorn one is pure craziness. Hawthorn is the best club in the country and Carlton has to meet them twice after finishing 13th?
What is the bet that no other bottom 6-8 plays Hawthorn twice...

Hawthorn gets the home game at the MCG, Carlton plays their "home" game vs Hawthorn at Docklands and gets paid next to nothing due to the contract arrangements. Who would have thunk it that it would have worked out this way...
