Was almost like playing against Carlton......

Probably half a dozen players played their career best game yesterday (Rowe, Docherty, Everitt, White, Johnson, possibly Casboult).

On another note, think we'll come to rue winning this one down the track.

With the exception of Johnson who has only just started but the rest of those guys are having career best seasons not just games.

I am not getting into a coaching debate but MM has those guys playing career best football individually but it is also his job for the team to play as a team.
I am not quite sure how we can have these guys playing career best football and the team is going backwards.
I believe kicking efficiency is the killer with this team.

Reality will come next week, but I'm still enjoying the unreality of a big win against a team I hate. They were crap, yes, but I still like it when we flog them.

We can now lose every game for the rest of the year and not win the spoon. Just need Melbourne to win a couple of games so their Frawley compo pick doesn't screw us.

Fair call

I was mostly being facetious - it seems every conversation re: this team is a referendum on Malthouse's coaching.

All things considered - GC looking vulnerable without Ablett, potentially rolling Essendon* in the last week. Pick 5-8 is what we're looking at. Huge difference to 1-4 we'd be looking at if we'd lost.

Undecided whether I want us to finish bottom four in terms of its impact for scheduling next year.

Bottom four = we play (probably) Saints, GWS and Brisbane twice. Unless GWS' gets waived as they need their second game against the Swans, miss out on a second game against Richmond or Hawthorn, which would have ramifications on revenue.

14th-11th = Probably Dogs, Richmond and West Coast twice. Slightly better outcome.

We are going to finish 12th or 13th I'd say.

I agree. Even yesterday they were continuing with the plastic tough guy act with absolutely nothing to back it up with.

Also loved Gwilt's pass to Riewoldt who was about 20 metres in front of him and 10 metres in the clear; sailed right over his head and hit Jamo on the chest.

13th, or worse, would provide us with better draft picks and an easier draw for next season

Here's hoping we don't win again for the rest of the season then?

..it's talked up as being a very even draft, quality wise.. ....i'd rather we start playing better team football, and those improving keep on gaining confidence.... ..if we slip a couple of spots down the draft ladder by winning a few more, and we steadily improve and 'discover' a couple more hidden players in our list, all the better.. ..i'd rather that, than gain an early pick but lose more culture, weaken an already fragile confidence, lose players due to poor morale..

I presume tat you mean 3 - 4 weeks. I can't understand why they put him back on injured when the game was in the bag - and he hurt it some more. Dumb.

Is it just my imagination or has Chris Yarran put in a ton of work on his defensive side of his game over the off season and during the year, I struggle to find an example of where he hasn't been accountable for his direct opponent through the year, he has been beaten in one on one contests but seems to be defending like a dour back pocket of days gone by, I have been as impressed with his defensive work and work off the ball as we all are with those blistering runs.

Him and Levi are the big positives to come out of an ordinary season.
By the way great win yesterday and I am well aware that the saints are crapola, but these are the games we usually drop, the guys looked switched on yesterday apart from the mandatory 1 quarter nap, did the coaching staff bring out the cots and little cartons of milk for nap time at quarter time?

Picked it right away. That's a 4-6 weeker IMO. Not because I'm a doctor but because I damaged my AC in a fight once and it took that long before I could do much with it.

Tell your missus to ease up a little. Fighting is no good. See if you can resolve it in communication. Will make for a healthier relationship and a better marriage....... and your dhoulder won't hurt as much!

Just back from the game after dinner and enjoyed what use to be the normal day at the footy against the Saints, except there were no Carlton retreads playing for them.

I was only going to be happy with a 15 goal win and we were close.

The crowd was so quiet and generally disinterested in getting into it other than when goals were kicked or Casboult took a huge mark.

The were so many dropped marks ...in an indoor game at 17 degrees. Both sides played like bottom 2 teams.

We do have the foundations of a good team, but some of our older players should be traded or retired.

I'm over Walker in defence. Like MM Walker has another year like MM. Trade Walker if we get d 2nd rounder or play him forward or midfield and make him earn his keep. He is lazy at times and that is reflected in his kicking.

Brock did some good things today but he was against no opposition. I don't know who his opponent was but he seemed on his own. Unaccountable? Doesn't matter. He has a good pass by foot, but he needs more tools. Bye

I'm have joined the retire Carrazzo side. He is so slow.

Simmo has lost form since he was tagged out of the game by the Giants' Palmer. He needs to get back on his bike if we are going to hold hope for him in 2015 as an old man.

Hendo did well but he tired a bit, his kicking for goal in the warm up was horrible, and he missed a few in the real deal...and missed some easy marks. He did improve a lot this week, but his opponent was weak as piss, like most Saints.

Imagine if the Saints didn't miss targets today. The score would be a lot different.

We won thanks to crap served up by Saints, favourable umpiring and a great game from Casboult Everitt Murphy Yarran Tuohy (about time) Jamison Judd Rowe.....Hendo was good as was Menzel Johnson Bell white Gibbs and Doc was ok at times.

We paid too much for Thomas. He ain't going to get faster. Hopefully he improves on the smarts and execution.

Warnock is pathetic.....3rd game I've seen him in a row. He's a liability. Lazy. Weak. Unskilled. Overrated ruck work. Come back Kreuzer.

We do have foundations of a good team. Other than Casboult Yarran and Hendon, who are going to be the stars of the team when Judd retires?

I hope we squeeze another year from Judd. We will need him next year.

Glad you had a good day.

Regards Cazzesman

Not sure about the rolling eyes, but I'm just saying what I saw.
I would have thought that's what a good forum is about.

My family was thrilled by the win.
Reminded me of the good old days.
Kids are still bragging about the 85 point margin.
Acknowledged the weak opposition in the win.
Also acknowledged the umpires favourtism.

Our boys did really well playing attacking footy.

Are you upset with my observations? My opinions?
I didn't have a go at recruiting. What?
With me thinking Brock and Carrazzo looking slow?
Walker not being as good as he was in the back line?
thomas not playing like a $650k player...doesn't mean I'm not glad to have him.
Hendo kicked 4 but is still not in his usual good form with kicking and marking.
Imagine when Hendo hits form with Levi improving, Everitt or Walker as 3rd tall?

I've gone off Walker in the last few weeks.
Reckon his disposal is below average, IMO hit and miss.
It seems he doesn't have the express pace he did have and he isn't breaking lines.
Walker was my favourite player and I got bagged. I admit he's lazy and wants the easy ball.
I'd like to see him more as a creator rather than an outside receiver in the back line.
I might be wrong. What do other posters think?

What does all this mean?
I think we have the foundations of a good team, and I think we need to add pace.
Last year we added Thomas Everitt Docherty and Cripps.
If we upgrade on Carrazzo Brock with more pace and get a good return on Walker or bring him into the midfield I think we can improve in 2015'

I'm a glass full man. We won by 85 points and there was a lot of room for improvement.
No rear view mirrors on the failures of the past.

I call it pragmatism or gap analysis based on a good result.

Are you OK Cazz? It's all good
